I have always had this light popping noise in my shoulders(most of the time with no pain and sometimes with a little pain) in my right arm when I do any over the head "push up" or "pull down" exercises. When I was younger 18, and in great shape( 5'9" 165# 5%BF) I asked my doctor about it and he said not to worry about it. Im now 30(5'9" 190# and im sure at least 20%BF) and trying to get back in shape. My right shoulder is doing the same popping but now it hurts. Will this get better over time or am I predisposed to shoulder problems(my left pops a little but it never hurts). Will the YTWL workout/warmup help my problem? Thanks for any advice.

On the top outside back side but it still feels like its inside around the joint. From looking at skeletal pictures its seems to be around where the scapula joins the humerus on the back side.

If this helps at all. I am right hand dominant and I have been trying to use my left arm for more daily tasks. It has helped a bit.

Ya, I think. If I put my fingers there its popping(consistently but not in any kind of rhythm. Sometimes not at all) right behind but below my front delt bluge. I would see a doctor about this but I just got laid off. Which is the reason I can train again and also the reason I have no insurance. I appreciate your help, Thank you.

I have had problems like that in the past the end of my clavical has a type of arthritis alot of people can get if it gets real bad take time off I had a shot in mine didnt help took time off and it went away as long as it doesnt flare up real bad I am usually good to go

Thanks for the time man. I really hope that its not arthritis and i dont think that it is. I have been going up in weight at least 5lbs and sometimes 10lbs a week depending on the exercise. My strength feels good but maybe my joints need time to catch up. Im gonna give YTWL a try and see how it goes.

This might be inflammation caused either by an illness like arthritis or even as a reaction to diets can cause your shoulders to get inflamed. There is an easy way to test if your pain is as a result of inflammation... just pick up some extra strength anti-inflammatory meds such as advil, pop some and if you notice improvement you know its inflammed. If thats the case go to a specialist, not a doctor, such as a rheumatologist and get proper xrays done to see what the problem is. Even if you have arthritis it's no reason to panic, many forms are very mild and can be managed with proper meds and cold/heat therapy. Good luck pal

Ill try that. The irritation usually comes after heavy lifting so Im not sure if taking an anti-inflammatory will tell me much(as doing so also reduces my muscle pain). After a few days of using my non dominant arm for general tasks it feels much better. Maybe the irritation was from over use? I will see a specialist as soon as I can but that wont be soon(just got laid off so I dont have insurance). Thanks guys.

I have also started taking glucosamine chondroitin with MSM. I am also considering getting some cissus as I hear it helps with joint issues

I have pain in the same area, and mine pops alot also. I had scans done, and i have a ripped/frayed super-tendon. If i push on it, it feels like im pinching a nerve or something, dont know if this helps. It was bothering me a while back, and i asked about it, and was told to do 4 warm up sets with a light weight (instead of 2), then use medium weight for a few weeks, then work your way up slowly. Its helped me a ton, i can go heavy for a few sets now and its ok, i still cant go full blown like i want, but its better than injuring it more.

I have the same thing but w/o pain with my roator cuffs. My shit pops like hell. Ive come to find that my posterior deltoids were/are weak. check out this link. Rotator Cuff Exercises For Rehabing Shoulder Injuries

I dont know what to say. THANK YOU. After watching the video I did the exercises you (is that you?) demonstrated and I realized that my rears are pretty weak. Once my muscles got pumped back there it felt like everything was back in sync(not perfect yet), but it felt good. I was just telling my buddy that I used to have more muscle back there and that after getting bigger(when I was younger) that my shoulder issues went away. Good looking out man. Those 2 exercises kick your ass. I diddent realize that I was neglecting those muscles so much. I thought that my back and shoulder routine was solid but Im gonna do these a few times a week like you mentioned in the vid. I really think that this is gonna help if not solve my problem all together. BTW, Trish looks pretty damn good. :)

I second what cthul said- thanks for the video.
I'm gonna start those exercises / warmups and see if it helps.

No problem dude. Na thats not me but Im glad I could help. Most dudes only focus on bench and that over develops the anterior delts and that how you get this guys walking about like orangutans. gotta be well rounded and work all muscles.

I have been doing these and I do feel better(not fixed but I know that will take time).
My questions are,
1. Does this replace the YTWL workout/warm up, or does this compliment it. Should I do both(2 movements seem to be the same)?
2. Light weights are doing the trick for now(burning, getting stronger and getting a little sore) with the pain lessening. When/if/how heavy can I go and when is the right time to increase the weight? How heavy should I go after a while? Every other exersise my goad is move more weight. Is this the same? Can I build it up?

How has the shoulder rehabbing going?

Pretty great actually. I have only done the cable exercises a few times but when I did I got more sore than usual(muscle wise). I have been doing the other movements that you demonstrated in the video every 2/3 days since you posted them. I do feel better. The light weight movements make all the muscles around my right shoulder(which is my porblem side)where I have pain burn and get sore. My left side where I dont have any problems burns a bit but has never been sore the next day. This leads me to believe that my right shoulder has some weak muscles. I plan on doing the face pulls and the cable movements on a regular basis. My last chest exercise felt pretty good. I still feel a bit weak on the right side but I think that was from me compensating due to the pain. My right shoulder was still a bit sore but not as bad as usual. I expected that, it takes time to heal. I tried giving you some rep but it said "your reputation power is 0 points", I dont know what that means, sorry.

lol that just means you dont have rep power yet, but I appreciate the thought brother. yea we will compensate and we do have a stronger side. Im right handed by I have retard strength on my left side. its odd.

Good work man. Hope after a few weeks/months youll see more improvement. IMO you might want to take 2 or 3 week off from all other upper body work that puts strain on your shoulder. Just to allow your muscles to heal, recover and avoid any possible haphazard actions. I think you should set up a to get a MRI. I wish I could, it'll answer a lot of question I have for myself but no $$$$ or insurance.

Best of luck dude.
