At the moment I am alternating between wide grip (hands as wide as possible on the bar), and hands at normal position (about shoulder width). I feel sure this gives a slightly more varied workout to the chest than using the same grip position each workout. On the wide grip I can feel a kind of "nice" burning feeling on the outer areas of the pecs as I come down with the bar. At normal grip position I feel it more on the arms.
Who else likes the wide grip?

I do. Mix it up for total chest development.

I love wide grip. Have you ever tried a staggered grip? One hand in closer than the other. Then switch it for the next set. It feels totally alien but hits everything hard!

I`ll try that. I am imagining it, and thinking that I will struggle to keep the bar level??

i bench wide for my build...i always have...word of caution is when the weights get heavier overall technique is important as your shoulders cant sustain those types of loads in a dead flat position over time...

I would go with very light weight. And basically have your hand no more than 1 hand width different from the other hand in regards to position. This way you really won't have balance issues but that slight change will make a big difference. I would start no heavier than 1 set of 45 ' on the bar. If that's too much drop to 25's

Be careful with changing grips and angles. If you have to much weight on you can tear a rotator cuff easy.
