Best all-around Anti-Biotic?

Ive got a store credit and am gonna stock up on some anti-biotics
What would be good to treat whatever may pop up that is cycle related, such as an abscess???

just got mine last week... Doc told me i had an early start of an abcess.. its called cellulitus... gave me clindamycin.. 4 pills a day ... started working after 2 days.. good stuff bro

Some grocery store pharmacies will give you free antibiotics as long as you have an RX. I know Publix and Sweetbay do where I live.

I always have a few Z packs (Azithromycin) stashed away for when I know I'm sick...always travel with a pack on hand.

IMHO, we should ALL have some Cipro on hand. Reason being that God forbid we are ever exposed to such terrorist agents like Anthrax....Cipro is one of the few antibiotics that is used to treat and protect people who have been exposed.

I live in Manhattan and we hear threats like this in our subways all the time. If something does happen and I am exposed to something like Anthrax...I'll have a better chance of surviving having my Cipro on hand. Call me nuts, but as Louis Pasteur once wrote, "Chance favors only the prepared mind". Hey...ya never know in today's world.

Zpacks are the fucking bomb.

Only reason I go to the doc is to get cough syrup. The antibiotics work great but the syrup makes you feel even better.

I can see why it might seem strange to you, but clindamycin is actually a fairly strong wide spectrum antibiotic. I had a cellulitis that almost caused me to lose my foot a little over a year ago and i was on IV clindamycin and vancomysin (sp?) - vanco is much stronger, but clindamysin is actually one of the relatively few antibiotics commonly successful in treating MRSA. If clindamysin or vancomysin (moreso with vanco as it is stronger) are given intravenously, but manage to leave the bloodstream and collect in tissue the drugs are strong enough that they will begin to destroy living tissue in its path. just to put it in perspective, Bactrim is a very common and strong antibiotic used to treat MRSA as well, but is also widely prescribed for acne

Cephalexin is used if the person can not have penicillin, well in my case it is.

Broad spectrum antibiotics can range from a few of these amoxicillin
levofloxacin, gatifloxacin, moxifloxacin

You need to take cipro within 3 days of being exposed to weaponized anthrax or it is over 90% fatal.

Chances are you won't even know you've been exposed in a bio attack until bodies start dropping... and by then, it will likely be too late.

The best defense is to prevent the attack in the first place.

I am not allergic to penicillin antibiotics, but each time I had cellulitis a shot of rocephin and keflex were given. I am not disagreeing with your statement however.

I'm well aware of how Anthrax works and it's effects on the body. I couldn't agree more that the best defense is to prevent an attack in the first place...that's why I'm all for our troops in boots doing what they have to overseas.

But, if something does happen and a weapon with Anthrax does hit....you will have an entire city looking for medicinal help and drugs (like Cipro). The city would go mad and people would start rioting pharmacies. This puts me ahead of the rest. As for the reality check....I was smack in the middle when the planes hit the towers on 9/11 watching bodies drop and explode in front of me, so no need for another reality check...right?. You also don't need to be sorry.

Didn't think you were, I should of said my post a bit better, I mean in some cases they will. But it is up to whom ever you see to decide on what they give you. You may not be allergic to one type but they may just prefer to give it to you.

Def the keflex. I had anti biotic resistant staph during chemo for cancer and kephlex was the only thing that killed it ! Also a rocephrin inj to kickstart is awesome stuff. Most painful shot I've ever had though, They cut it with lidocane! Z pack is good but not for abcess more for upper respiratory infection.
