I learned about Pullups being so good from reading the Arnolds Encyclopedia. ;)
Very effective and not as easy as it looks.
Although some of the skinny 100 pounders make it look simple, but try explaining to them that when you get heavier it gets harder.....they just don't understand.

I never used to do pullups...and now they're a staple of my back routine...and by far my favorite back exercise.

Were you doing them correctly? They add so much thickness.

T-bars are also good.

I've got an old upper back injury that gets slightly aggrivated on all my back excercises. This one inpaticular for some reason really gets it going.

I know exactly what your saying, I can't go heavy on uprights anymore.
Have you tried using those machines where you can place your chest against it while doing back?
It's probably the same I guess..

For weighted pull-ups, when during your back workout do you usually do them? I tried them for the first time today (I can usually do a decent number of regular pull-ups after my back workout), and couldn't do jack (this is after I did lat pulldowns and seated rows). Anyway, I figured do them first thing, followed by lat pulldowns and other back exercises?

min0, I did like the smith for upright rows, but I just dont do them anymore currently.

I might get ripped apart for this because it's considered and isolation exercise, but I really like straight arm pulldowns for my lats. I feel coupled with rows, chins and deads it's a good team.

My absolute favorite is t-bar rows, they are great for thickness.

Yeah, if I start fresh I can do about 10.

Used to do these all the time, but never saw many results. I think i'll try Mudge's suggestion with the smith machine though.

I broke my collar bone (clavicle) and tore some ligaments almost 3 years ago. I can only go light but going light bores me.

I really havnt touched upright rows in years. It feels a little awkward at times.

I like bent-over rows with an E-Z curl bar. It really surprises me that so few people are doing bent-over rows! Good mornings and weighted hypers are great for the lower back.
