I've done a search.

Jodi recommended "Carlsons."

There are many brands.

Can people recommend the better quality and cost effective Fish Oil Brands?

I'm asking because I'm having them shipped to me, and have to tell a person which brand to buy.

Thanks in advance.

Flameout by Biotest.

Has like 2400 mg's of dha per serving.

Overpriced and not worth the money. It doesn't do anything that you can't get a lot cheaper from KiloSports of Carlsons.

Isn't yours like 80 dollars?

Flameout is like 25 bucks or something, and it has CLA in it. :thumb:

Plus it has a cooler bottle. ;)

70 but it's a thousand capsusles. That one you posted is only has 88 capsules. BIG DIFFERENCE!

CLA is garbage. Unless you HUGE doses of it which would cost way to much it doesn't do a damn thing.

Once again thanks, folks (Jodi)!!

Not only do I learn a lot on this forum, but I also save a ton of money.

What do you think of BioTest's bit about the DHA to EPA ratio in their supplement being a lot more favorable in men? They claim to base it on studies that says women are capable of synthesizing DHA much more readily than males due to their higher estrogen and lower testosterone levels. They also cite other studies showing more favorable results with DHA as opposed to EPA.

This one is my favorite. http://kilosports.com/shop/item.asp?cID=26&PID=144

It's a good deal because it's super potent so you don't need as much.

NOW is ok too but I prefer the super potent.

I clicked on that link and its inactive, the only 1000count fishoil on that website is $20.00 not $70.00. am I missing something?

Mines better, Jodi's just too stubborn to admit she's wrong. :p

Like hell! Tell me bigdyl, what makes you think that fish oil is worth all that money?

juggernaut2005 - I don't know why it's not listed today. They have been selling it for years now. I just pasted that link the other day. I'm going to call them tomorrow and find out.

It's the same price as your when you factor in how much dha is in each one. :thumb:

So yours have 200 mg dha per cap.

Uh, so that's 200 x 1000 = 200,000

mine is like 1/4 the cost, so mutiply,

2400 x 4 x like 90 servings or something = 864,000

:)

Flame Out is ghey.

About fish oils.(And I'm not saying I agree with this, scientists ought to be locked away in a padded room)

For at least 20 years doctors have been urging their patients to eat more oily fish to benefit the heart. Adding two servings a week of mackerel, salmon and similar fish to the family shopping list was believed to help fend off cardiovascular disease.

Now a major new study suggests the advice was wrong. Scientists who reviewed no fewer than 89 studies of omega 3 fats, the key constituent of fish oils thought to protect against heart disease, found no clear evidence that they are of any use at all.

And this is a few studies, I could show thousands that say otherwise. Personally I stick with my fish oil as I do see good results from it when I use the correct amount. Not to mention that my grandmother was able to come off her coumadin because she uses fish oil. Proof is in the pudding.

Oh then that brings it up to half the amount in flameout for the same price. ;)

Two servings a week is insufficient in my opinon. That is why we ingest fish oil daily and I pump up my omega-3 sources via other methods at the same time. The studies are right, two servings per week of oily fish is probably not enough to produce noticeable results in most people.

Wow, Jodi.

How long did it take?

You're grandmother is taken the recommended dosage?

--Thanks.

Yes, I count them. They are calories which, as you said, add up.

These are the ones I use (Sam's Club). There was a link posted on here a while back where Consumer Reports (?) tested which fish oils met label claims, etc. and the Sam's Club brand was just fine. However, I would like to hear everyone's opinion on this; I was under the impression that all fish oils were about the same (minus different dosages per cap). I just feel great spending $7 for 300 caps as opposed to $15 for 100 online.
