I would like to know what kinds of steaks are good? I bought top sirloin and wondering if this is a lean cut or not. Also is eating steak everyday OK? I'm cutting so I would like to know. Thanks.

Top sirloin is good, along with Top Round, and Flank:D

Tenderloin is the best tasting but in terms of the least fat....eye of round wins.

NO....tenderloin is usually about 10 grams of fat per 100g (3.5oz.) serving vs eye of round at about 4%.

Eye of round, top round, bottom round, top sirloin, and most cuts of flank are all leaner than tenderloin...as for taste and tenderness...now that's another story.

Search the USDA Nutrition database for more info if you wish....

If your looking for tenderness and flavor I would say tenderloin, rib and t-bone are the best. However if you want the most lean cuts then topround(inside), bottomround(outside), eye of round and flank are your best choices, but these are tough steaks and should be marinaded for tenderness. Sirloin and I don`t mean sirloin tip has better than average tenderness and is a little leaner than the average.

I like Dale's Steak Marinade, but the Montreal spice mix is way kicking too. (I use both on a steak alot of times, but you have to watch the sodium when you mix them. Marinade first, add the MS when ready to cook.)

I like sirloin tips over any other, except for filet.!! :lick:

Jodi...do you marinade your sirloin tips...there very lean but just so yough....or do you just stomach them and down them?

Most definately - I marinade them in a meat tenderizer and when they are done they practically melt in your mouth. Its called Adolfs Meat Marinade! The stuff is great!! :lick:

Thx...I'll have to searsh and see if we can get it up here in the North...:thumb:
