Ok, anybody use the calipers by accu-measure? I've had them now for about 2 months or so, measure my b.f. at least once a weekthe way they say to. I've measured an average of 2mm on the scale, that's 3.5% b.f. according to the chart. I measured this all through cutting phase, and even now for about 3 weeks into post cutting, bulking phase. Am I doing something wrong here?

Unless you are shredded, yes you're doing something wrong!

It takes a lot of practice to get good and consistent with calipers.

If you like to track b.f.% regularly I would suggest breaking down and buying one of the bodyfat scales (tanita makes nice ones) They can be a little expensive, however make up for it in reducing the frustration level associated with calipers.

BTW: After a while you will learn how to trick even one of these scales, but if you take the average of your readings it's fairly accurate.

I think the scales are crap. Got a reading from one @ 10% one day, 3 days later I was 13.9%!

I think calipers are better, but only when the person knows how to use them. It takes ALOT of practice.

Actually that's not too bad I've been able to make it give me an 7.4% and then 6 hours later read a 13.2%. The trick that I've been using is not paying attention to the numbers as much as whether they are going up or down. It also helps if you take your measurements at the same time of the day or after similar activities. (i.e. when you first wake up, right after cardio, right after lifting)

The tanita scales are very similiar to caliper testing from my own experience. It is just knowing how to use the scale properly to track your % progress.

Make sure you are well hydrated before testing your fat %.
