mustangman, congrats on your success! Keep it up.

Personally, I don't care for the BFL workouts, but I think Bill Phillips does send a good message (although that guy could really use a good beating). :D

I dont care for Bill anymore either. For some one claiming to be all about fitness he sure sold out when the price was right. Dont hear too much from him too much anymore do you? Muscle Media went down hill when he left too. I saw him at the Arnold classic a few years or so ago and he had this smug little grin on his face. One of those ones you would like to smack off.

Anyway, good luck with the diet mustangman. Hope it works for ya. Keep us posted on your progress.

So, in your opinion, do you think the program is worth it??

If the program gets you exercising and gets you to pay closer to attention to your diet, than HELL YES it's worth it! Just because some of us don't like the BFL program does not mean it won't work for you.

For beginners i think the program is worth it. It teaches you the basics of training and it dosent start you off killing you on the first day in the gym. Which is a main reason people dont keep coming back to the gym.

So if you are just starting, or are looking for a good baseline to start your training, then i say it is worth it. Once you get in the grove of things you can experiament and try different programs. I personally just dont care for Bill.

Hope this answers your questions.

I definately think it's worth it........ if you're just starting.... confused on dieting...... need some discipline and guidelines. You can find this info anywhere on the web. You can get as much info right here on this board as in the book. I did it. (BFL) I lost weight. I gained mass ( a little :) ) It got me motivated, and that's what I needed at that time. It's not for everyone, but the masses of fat Americans need a kick start.

I got my BB start with BFL. I still think the program is the best out there for getting people off their lazy arses and getting into the gym.

I remember my very first workout like it was yesterday. It was 6:00AM and I was sitting there in all of my fat glory not even 1/5 of the way through my upper-body workout. I felt like I was going to puke and as I lay on the bench, I said, "NOTHING is worth feeling like this." My wife, however, convinced me to do the aerobic exercise on day 2 and I have never looked back.

The program has since become a very good marketing tool for EAS supps, but the results still speak for themselves. Bill probably does need a good beating, but I thank him for getting me off the couch.

Bill must be doing something right? That is how I got started again as well. I hadn't lifted for a few years and BFL got me back into it again.

One of the problems I had with him when he owned EAS was that he would not sponser or support bodybuilding competitions, not even the little local shows. That just seems ironic when you're running a supplement company. Yet, he had EAS plastered all over every other sports arena in Colorado.

Yeah, i do remember seeing EAS with alot of the Denver Broncos when they were on fire. Especially Shannon Sharpe and Tyrell Davis.

You make a good point Prince, for someone who supposidly wants to help, you would think sponsering some low profile events would help too. Guess he was all about money. I'd be curious to see if he ever pops up into the media again and where it would be. Does he still live out in the Boulder area? I heard a rumor he moved to CA.

Bill Phillips

If you watch the Body of Work video (which is free) then you will know why he doesn't sponser body building contests.

If you don't like him, that's fine. But you have to give the man credit. He found a market, he provided a product, and he made his money. The American Dream. I think he has a right to be cocky.

And at the same time, he got thousands of people to get up and workout.

Gotta respect that!

I respect Bill Phillips for many reasons. I believe he single handedly changed the supplement industry into an area where some real science is being done. I may not have agreed with everything he did, but there is no doubt he was a marketing/business genius and I would not mind getting to where he did financially one day!

I agree with everything you just said. I espically think he is a marketing/business genius.

However, I dont think he was as sincere as he portrayed himself to be. Otherwise he wouldnt have sold out with EAS and would still be pushing the BFL program.

The thing that I ultimately realized about him is he was all about making money. The company I work for is located right next door to EAS corporate offices.

He used to live in Golden, CO., but I also heard he moved back to California.

As far as watching the videos and learning why he does not sponser contests, fuck that and him. Bill did one thing great, he marketed a product(s) and made millions. Then before the going got too tough, he sold the company and got the hell out of dodge. Sorry, but I had respect for him in the beginning, but very little now.

Did you know that he used to compete, and that he was a roid boy? He got started in "business" by writing steroid manuals. As far as EAS, he stumbled upon that by accident. So, don't pump him up too much! ;)

:)

eas's products are fine.the guy,the man,the pr!ck,well thats another story.i call people like mr phillips..super glue,he was stuck on himselfi have no time for arrogant people,he wrote the book on arragance, just because you know how to market things does not make you a great man.this is not jealously, this is anger from walking up to the man, with an EAS shirt on,trying to say HI,and not getting the time of day,and if my dad wasnt with me i wouldve given mr phillips a verbal a$$ kicking.as for colorado, great state for hunting ELK.there i feel much better:eek:  :D

Honestly, that does not surprise me at all.

Was this at a contest?

no actually we went out hunting with some friends who live out there.it was our last night and they took us to this sorta fancy steak house outside Golden,i had bought one of those stupid mock tutlenecks that EAS on them. as we walked in my friend Denny tapped me on the shoulder and pointed him out.just as he was about to leave, my father encouraged me to go say hi,big ego mistake, prick would'nt shake my hand:mad:

Tank, More important than whether you got to shake the ..... indiviuals hand or not was did you get anything on the hunt??? This is a training board so consider it a question of "Did you increase your supply of high quality protein?"

PS How many times today you gonna change your title??

nope.igot skunked meat..for protien.ha ha  :) but i had a great time.:thumb:

So...... anyone ??? What do you think of the Body for Life plan. Is it worth my time? Does it give me any mass? Will I succumb to the intense cardio? What was you experience with the program? Does it starve you to lose that bodyfat? Who's Bill Philips?

Well, thats news to me. I had no idea that is what he used to do. I do remember seeing a pic of him from a while back, and he was not in the shape he was now. He looked like quite the little dough boy.

What a prick. You know now that i think of it, when i saw him at the Arnold classic 3 or 4 years ago he was not up in the crowd, he was back in the booth far enough away so he wouldent have to talk to the people.

I cant stand people like that. I had respect for the guy in the beginning, I personally found Muscle Media 2000 very good in motivating my ass to get back in the gym, but after hearing what you just said tank, i have no respect for the man at all. What a dick.

Pemburu, to answer your questions i think the Body For Life (BFL) plan is a good program if you are new to weight training and working out. I think it teaches people the basics that give you a good core knowledge about weight training/working out/dieting for one to build on down the road. One could take what they learn from the BFL Program and build on it as they continue their training. However, if you are experienced i dont think you would gain much from the program as it was targeted for beginners. You may get some good ideas from the book though.

I think you will have to decide if it is worth your time or not. Give it a try for a while and see what it does for you. If it dosent work then modify it to fit into your schedule or needs. The book gives several different programs depending if you want to loose fat or gain mass.

The cardio may be intense for you, but scail it back to where you feel you are pushing yourself but not killing yourself. I think the only downfall of the program is that the people i know (mostly at my office) who did the program is that they followed it to a T. You dont have to do that. Use it as a guide or reference book.

My personal experience with the program was that it got me back into the gym. I had a decent knowledge about working out, but not much about the diet aspect and how important it is to your training vs. your goals. I followed the program loosley but had great results. I started at about 205 and dropped to 188. Like i said earlier, i thought the book was good, but it was too intermediate for my wants and needs.

The program dosent starve you. Like i said earlier, i think people followed it to a T and failed to modify it for themselfs. Obviously a 160lb woman is going to have to eat more than a 110LB woman to sustain themselfs. I ate 6 meals a day as suggested, and i actually liked it.

Bill Phillips used to be the CEO of EAS and the Executive editor (or some other high up position) of Muscle Media. A body building magazine that used to be really good but has sence fallen to the standards of Mens Health and Mens Fitness (both decent magazines, but Muscle media was way better in the day). Bill is also the creator and marketor of the BFL Program. And from what you probably got from reading these posts about him he is a major dick.

Hope these answer your questions as well as anyone elses.
