Will boxing slow down my gains? Also, me and my friend simulated some of the strong man events ( cuz the gym was closed) and it was a pretty good workout, we mixed it with pull ups/push ups/ and runnin the 100m a couple times. I don't see why this would hurt me, but just wanna make sure.

Boxing wont hurt your gains, it can be a good form of cardio. It may destroy some shoulder and chest mass as your body will want to be a bit leaner there to throw quick punches. I wouldn't worry about it though, the hand eye coordination will be good for you since you are a high school wrestler.

The strong man stuff is great. My new split (and often my training partner and I will train like this) is based aroung 3 total body workouts per week. the third day is an odd lift/misc. lift day were we are doing things like sled pulls, power stairs, most clean and presses you can do in 60sec etc....and otehr circuts and conditioning stuff. I think it is an excellent break from the typical gym trainig and will help improve your level of conditioning greatly. It will also make you strong in an entirly different way than if you were to rely soley on just weights.

Thanks Man, we also tried this thing from rocky, where he put a log on his shoulders and did a sort of log hop...but we did it with a heavy medicine ball......it just wasn't the same, might try it with a bar and weights next time

I boxed on and off for ten years and I still hit the bags. If theres a problem with boxing its from bad diet while trying to make a weight. Ive been out of it a long time but is there still an "up at 5 and running 5" mentality or is there more HI cardio done. Doesnt matter I guess serious heavy bag training is about as HI as you can get.

When I was boxing I can remember working out for 3+ hours a day sometimes. Between running, bag work, jumping rope, sparring, and weights. Oh to be young again.............take care..............Rich
