Listen fellas,

I am going backpacking across Europe and am scheduled to go bungee jumping with the love of my life who I haven't seen in a year (she lives in Switzerland).

I've packed on the pounds being sedentary between school, work and bussing around the city, gained 15 pounds since last summer even (quitting smoking)

So here it is: I'm 6'1" and 280 pounds, and I've got roughly 75 days to lose 40 pounds to make it under the weight limit for this bungee jump.

Tell me it's freaking possible, and tell me I don't have to kill myself working out 6 hours a day to pull it off, because I'm overcommitted as it is.

Miracles, anyone?

Even when I was under 200 pounds I had a 44" chest and 36" waist. I'm up to 48" chest and 38" waist right now. I don't know if that helps, but my life kinda got derailed and I got into a major slump from 2008-present, took it out on myself through food and drink I guess. I've basically gained 100 pounds in only 2/3 years of being a bum.

Lyle McDonald's "Rapid Fat Loss" - buy it, follow it to the letter and you might be able to make it.

I'm actually down to 271 this morning, been eating light and doing the ephedrine/caffeine stack for about a week. Isn't there some straightforward advice you can give me without the $40 pricetag?

There have been several logs where people have run "rapid fat loss" on here. Look for them and read how they did it. Nothing else is faster, I guarantee you that.

Thanks folks, I'm reading up on all of it now. Being that I'm at 271 now, 30 pounds in 70 days seems a lot more possible than 40. I'll let you know how it goes!

30 lbs is about 100,000 calories. Divided by 70 days is about 1400 calories a day. That's the deficit you need. If your maintenance is 2500, that allows you 1100 calories a day. Not counting exercise. If you hit the gym every day and burn 1000 calories, you could eat more.

Do-able, but 1100 calories is _really_ pushing the minimum.

I was reading up on the Lyle McDonald program and when you're talking about that kind of fasting, it's possible to lose a lot of water (like hanging out in the sauna wearing sweatpants for a wrestling match) to take off weight for short periods of time. I just need to make the weight for one single afternoon to pull this off -- it's not about health per se.

You can drop 8 or so pounds of water, sure - IF you're not already carb-depleted. You can't drop 30 lbs of water without winding up dead.

Ultimately, health is the primary motivator in my lifestyle. There are other goals which factor in, they are however tertiary.
