I heard here that it is not good to have Brown Sugar in your Oatmeal in the morning, so is it ok to have a really little bit? or is it best to not have any at all?

brown sugar is sucrose (table sugar) coated in mollasses so don't think it's anything special. you can surely use a little in your oats but don't overdue it

Id go without totally.. if you choose to use ANY natural sort of sugar Id go with honey.

I use stevia to sweeten things (a natural herb). or many here use Splenda.

Sometimes I think Im going to eat a little brown sugar and a little margarine....then im like shut up fatty

Just use Sugar Free Maple syrup instead :)

That is good:grin:

Sometimes I think a little sprinkle of Sucanat (unrefined sugar) is possibly better, on the whole and in the longterm, than buttloads of Splenda/aspartame/Sugar Twin.

GI be damned and call me crazy.

I agree with you.

The "real" brown sugar is integral or non processed or bleached sugar from the cane. I usually use 5g on my coffee... Splenda has too many issues with the
nervous system and depletion of B vitamins. Fructose can be an option too, just dont use too much if you are on diet.

As for oatmeal for the original post, use only integral (whole oats) the bleached ones are empty carbs and when processed they add synthetic vitamins to them.
Whole oats are rich in Niacin and silica.

Sometimes I add Sugar free syrup.. anyone tried Sugar Free Chocolate pudding? maybe add 1-2 table spoons with you'r oatmeal?

I use two teaspoons of Splenda for a 1/2 c.
