Bruce Lee - Not Massive But Well Defined

Bruce was just getting into grappling before he died. However I still have reason to believe he was not #1, he did NOT agree to a rematch when publically challenged by Jack Man.

They agreed to keep the fight private UNTIL Bruce opened his yap about kicking his ass when every reliable source says he in fact got his ass kicked. Bruce's wife has changed her story several times, and today her story is that he was "unusually winded but still won."

My gut tells me he was just as much a dick as when he was a youngster, and he got taught a lesson. Bruce talked a lot of shit, hit people in bars for no reason, and yet Jack Man is a quiet humble person.

It was that fight with Wong that set Bruce on a path to become the ultimate fighting machine, yes he was bold and arrogant. Part of being an ultimate fighting machine is psyching out your opponents, scare them well before any physical contact is made. I am sure he had pulled some ideas from Ali at that time since he analyzed all martial arts from fencing to boxing.

VERY interesting.. The "ultimate fighter" trying to become the very best could very well have destroyed himself.

That Jeet Kune Do lacked the cohesion and harmony of a style in the traditional sense was something acknowledged by Lee himself, who preferred to call it a "sophisticated form of street fighting" rather than a style. After abandoning Wing Chin, Lee developed a disdain for all traditional styles, which he considered restrictive and ineffective. He even went so far as to place outside his school a mock tombstone that read: "In memory of a once fluid man crammed and distorted by the classical mess." It is grimly ironic that it would be Lee would be in need of a tombstone long before the man, trained by and loyal to the "classical mess," who was almost certainly his most formidable opponent.

It cannot be proven, of course, that Lee???s fatal edema of the brain was caused by Jeet Kune Do, just as it could not be proven his death was brought on by any of the other rumored causes ranging from illicit drugs to excessive sex to blows on the head. Wong thinks, to serve as a caution to those who believe they can, by themselves, develop the knowledge it has taken others many generations of cumulative effort to acquire.

Im sure alot of you know this, but People would just walk up to Bruce Lee on the street and chalenge him, Fight, then always lose. Thats 'Gangster'

I don't believe there is ever a #1 ... my belief is that there is always someone better out there.

when you've been given the title of #1, someone will always want to test you. Doesn't matter what it is ... it's human nature. Personally, I'd opt for the chess game with the number one guy/gal other than try and tackle a guy touted as being the best at kicking a$$ :D

Well, did you read my post, He was chalenged by many-Lost to none. That good odds, No?

I had that experience as a amatuer boxer ... someone mentioned I was the next the guy to knock the reigning welterweight kid out of his place. Suddenly, there was a lot of new faces at the gym all wanting to spar with me. I imagine those that are famous get people fronting them not only in the gym/ring/training place, but at dinner, while shopping ... etc. Nothing I'd want to be part of.

Spitfire ... I'm as much a believer as most that Bruce was very very good and a talented figther ... but I believe that there is always someone out there who is better. In this case, he/she may be the type of person who trains for the pure spritual reasons and has no reason to take it any futher ... or the type of person who knows how good his/her skills are and does not need to test them.

That is true, Though my intention were not to sound like I think he is #1 not by any means. Though I was just pointing out the odds of that statement, which are by any standard amazing.

then we can agree .... well to agree! :)

What I can say is he's probably among the top in terms of dedication and work ethic ...

Also agreed :thumb:

Mudge, IMO, none of us really knows Bruce Lee personally. Hell, most of us were not even born yet when Bruce was still alive.

You are taking something that is no longer a problem and making it a problem. That's like getting into a fight at someone's funeral!!!

The great man has passed away. We are all humans, we make mistakes. Let it go, dude. Go watch your favorite movie, have a soda, chill, no need to get made at someone when you didn't know him personally....unless he harmed your parents, which he didn't. If he was still alive, go ahead and say whatever but he's gone. Respect. That's like talking shit about the deceased at their funeral!!!!

I wish bruce lee was born during this era.
It would be awesome to see him fight in the UFC!

He was allergic to weed and he smoked it anyway.
He had died almost once before, but this time there was no one to check on him.
So just as the time before his brain swole and he passed out and he feel on the floor and lay there for three hours before he was found.
then they said that he had taken some kind of aspirin that he was allergic to, because they did not want to advertise marijuana as being used be Lee.

Yeah, according to many accounts Bruce didn't actually smoke weed; he believed that the actual "smoking" was the unhealthy part. Apparently he used to eat it to relax himself.

The art of fighting without fighting......genius.

Thanks to the both of you. This is weird. Being allergic to marijuana.

he def. was, but he never had the goal of getting big.

he need to stay small to be as quick and agile as he was.

needless to say, i honestly think he was the toughest man ever. in other words, i think he would beat ANY person in a 1 on 1 fight. they used to have to SLOW down the reel of videotape when recording because he was too fast.

I like bruce lee alot. However, I think Hickson Gracie in his prime, versus bruce in his prime, the win would goto Hickson.

He actually took a painkiller, for his headache, from the swelling, which he got from a friend
It was prescribed to her....He had an allergic reaction.

Personally I think if a 607" 340lb NFL tackle decided to take him out, Bruce Lee would end up a Hong Kong dog kebab............Rich

One thing I have learned from Jiu Jit-su is that size does not matter, unless your like 1 foot 4, then maybe it starts to matter.

Right, the most over rated Heavyweight champ ever would beat up Bruce Lee..........forget the steroids Mike is/was on, forget that Mike was only a one dimensional fighter, forget that he out weighs Bruce by 100Lbs......................................Mike would get the Fuck knocked out!!!

Tyson has to be one of the biggest bitches in the Boxing world........You could at least try to be smart and match Bruce up with Ali......who by the way said he couldnt beat Bruce in a fight.

That statement clearly shows that you have 0 knowledge when it comes to fighting.........why dont you step in the boxing ring with a top 50...not top 10......126lb fighter.........and see if you can even land one punch before he knocks you down in the first round.

Now he's an expert on fighting :barf:

Dont need to be a pro fighter to know your opinions on this matter are juvenile at best.........so tell me why the 6'8 350lb pro football players are not making 20 million a fight like Lewis and Tyson did...
