I recently bought some brussel sprouts. I have eaten them before with no problems. The ones that I bought are really big. I eat about 4 with my dinner. The thing is that they give me the worst gas in the world. My girlfriend can't even lay with me. Is this normal with brussel sprouts? Any ideas? I had them the past two nights with the same problem. I fine until I eat them.

Which foods cause gas?
Most foods that contain carbohydrates can cause gas. By contrast, fats and proteins cause little gas.

Sugars
The sugars that cause gas are raffinose, lactose, fructose, and sorbitol.

Raffinose
Beans contain large amounts of this complex sugar. Smaller amounts are found in cabbage, brussels sprouts, broccoli, asparagus, other vegetables, and whole grains.

The longer you eat them....the more you adjust....at least I find with myself.

You can try to take "Beano" before you eat, But boy are you missing the best "dutchoven" your girlfriend will ever have.

I used to zap frozen ones in the micro. But that makes them into mini grenades as they tend to explode in the micro. Not to mention them exploding through me after i eat them! :(
