so if you are Christian you can't run for a government position? how about other religions? or does every government representative need to be an atheist? :bulb:

Xtians, Jews, Muslims & Hindus.

Their religious beliefs influences their policies, including judge appointments, etc.

One does not need to be an atheist, just not a member of any organized religion.

now that is a revolutionary idea. being of an organized religion precludes you from running for office. aren't you just doing the same thing as the religious types just in reverse however? yea, i like to be able to vote for someone who has the same beliefs as I do. It's kind of what a republic is all about. :bulb:

god isn't as nice as jesus and jesus would do what his father told him to.

and the whole water to wine thing... don't you think he maybe just threw a few mushrooms in there?

ps spell check likes jesus better too. it doesn't care that i didn't capitalize god.

Religion should be a personal matter, not a public and political one.

Why was so much time devoted to candidates' religion in elections?

I prefer areligion in government.

And to think I just said you speak with wisdom. I take it back.

Somewhere between Athiest and i"n the pocket of the Religious Right" is where they should be.

You are delusional if you think Jesus would stand outside abortion clinics calling girls whores, saying on live television that god hates fags, throwing people in prison in Abu Ghraib with no due process or right to defend themsleves in court.

Look who Jesus hung out with, the "lower" people in life - so certainly not.

As for Bush I'm going to side with him on this very rare occasion.

Quantum theory which seems to believe we are all tied together since we are all created from the same "star dust," seems to imply we may ALL be God. We are created "in his image," and if you look at quantum mechanics, and Chi/Qi it seems we truly are all tied together seeing how we have the power to influence everything around us by mere thought.

Maybe God divided up himself into all of us, to "test himself" on a human scale. Who knows.

Either way this whole damn thing is so big that we can't understand it anyway, so it is possible that this all fits together in, ways we just don't understand. What is a single day to God? What is a week, where he rested on the 7th? This could have been billions of years or tens of billions of years. In a "place" where we can see light that took ten billion years to reach us who knows how large this universe really is, and who knows what else is out there that we coexist with and who knows what created it.

God as we feel we understand may not exist, again, maybe we are "God."

Jesus said "I lie to you in truth," how do you explain things to a child? In a simple manner that may not at verbatim be the complete blueprint of things, but gets the idea across. We also speak in parable to each other when trying to explain concepts to people who don't get something, we say "well its kind of like if...."

We don't even understand or know all of the things on our own planet which are right in front of us and around us, so trying to understand the meaning of life is a futile, yet highly interesting lifes work. I can't blame him for not knowing just as much as I myself have no idea, but again, its damn interesting stuff we continue to learn about life and the worlds around us.

Apparently Bush hasn't heard the news...

That's what I've been saying since I was like 10 and read about Buddha and Krishna, god is in all things. Jesus giving his life was his way of trying to make us understand that god destroyed himself to create the universe, maybe....who knows... I like to think it's that way and our whole existence is all working towards bringing it all together, evry step we take in technology is working towards a higher purpose. After trillions of years we may one day all be reunited into our former whole self. But in order to eventually reach that harmony to bond all things we have to create enough positive energy. Everytime we sin the energy is turned negative that's why sinning is wrong, if we contiunued to sin we'd never reach our final goal.....

You watched "What the Bleep" didn't you?

I know it is tough for you to comprehend things that you read, but try to keep up. timothy is in the new testament. If you are going to try and bash on the LDS church you're really going to have to try harder.

If you really feel like you know how to box step in the ring

ok then answer me this: is it true that for mormons, when the wife dies and goes to heaven, she has to wait outside the doors of heaven until her husband dies, then he goes to heaven, goes to the gates of heaven, and whispers her secret name through the gates so now she can come into heaven?

again, its just a simple question. you can try and belittle me again after your answer if you like if it makes you feel better about your faith.

the answer is no it's not true.

I hardly need the acceptance of anyone to "feel better about my faith" its funny that you would give yourself so much credit when I don't know you or respect you

Nurds on the left
Nurds on the right
Religous fanatics
On the air every night
Sayin the bible
Tells the story
Makes the details
Sound real gory
bout what to do
If the geeks over there
Dont believe in the book
We got over here

You cant run a race
Without no feet
n pretty soon
There wont be no street
For dummies to jog on
Or doggies to dog on
Religous fanatics
Can make it be all gone
(I mean it wont blow up
n disappear
Itll just look ugly
For a thousand years...)

You cant run a country
By a book of religion
Not by a heap
Or a lump or a smidgeon
Of foolish rules
Of ancient date
Designed to make
You all feel great
While you fold, spindle
And mutilate
Those unbelievers
From a neighboring state

To arms! to arms!
Hooray! thats great
Two legs aint bad
Unless theres a crate
They ship the parts
To mama in
For souvenirs: two ears (get down!)
Not his, not hers, (but what the hey? )
The good book says:
(it gotta be that way!)
But their book says:
Revenge the crusades...
With whips n chains
n hand grenades...
Two arms? two arms?
Have another and another
Our God says:
There aint no other!
Our God says
Its all okay!
Our God says
This is the way!

It says in the book:
Burn n destroy...
n repent, n redeem
n revenge, n deploy
n rumble thee forth
To the land of the unbelieving scum on the other side
cause they dont go for whats in the book
n that makes em bad
So verily we must choppeth them up
And stompeth them down
Or rent a nice french bomb
To poof them out of existance
While leaving their real estate just where we need it
To use again
For temples in which to praise our god
(cause he can really take care of business!)

And when his humble tv servant
With humble white hair
And humble glasses
And a nice brown suit
And maybe a blond wife who takes phone calls
Tells us our God says
Its okay to do this stuff
Then we gotta do it,
cause if we dont do it,
We aint gwine up to hebbin!
(depending on which book youre using at the
Time...cant use theirs... it dont work
...its all lies...gotta use mine...)
Aint that right?
Thats what they say
Every night...
Every day...
Hey, we cant really be dumb
If were just following gods orders
Hey, lets get serious...
God knows what hes doin
He wrote this book here
An the book says:
He made us all to be just like him,
So...
If were dumb...
Then God is dumb...
(an maybe even a little ugly on the side)

What are you getting at?
I have no point really. Most people here know my stance on the subject, so I feel no need to reiterate myself constantly. I was just saying that the documentary is a fraud and completely invalid as any form of resource ( unrelated to the rest of the conversation). I've heard so many people quote that steaming pile that I'm now socially allergic to it.

One of my favorite songs.

No, I didn't know your stance, but now I get it. I am not a quantum physicist, so I highly enjoyed the movie. I don't know enough about the science to judge what is true and what isn't in that movie.

Stuff like that is really nothing more than candy for my imagination and it keeps the dogs from barking in my head for a little while.

Looks like some people are not telling the truth. Some say Jesus died on the cross, while others say he did not. To me, it really doesn't matter whether he died on the cross or not. What matters most to me is that he was very good human being with heart full of love for others. By thinking of Jesus help me become better person. If those people who really believe in Jesus, they should get to the bottom of truth, so that they can believe in their faith without a doubt in their mind.
These people are trying to prove that Jesus did not die on the cross.
