Cable one tech says something with FBI

Ok, I had some tech issues with my cp where it kept saying on all three computers connected but had a yellow mark saying no internet access. Wife kept trying to get it fix with dns changes. Still couldn't get it to stay working. So we called Cable one and they visited both outside connections. He explained that one problem was we were transmitting to high at 58 and it should be btw 40 and 50. So he fixed it. But at one point he hooked up a think that looked like a scanner or tester. He said holly crap and something about the FBI. I don't know what the hell that mean. I was like wth, he said there have been over 100 something people that had dns problems due to a hacker in Russia that was using dummy dns. So I am hoping that the fbi thing was with that, Kinda had me wondering if they can view what we write in these forums. Any one heard this before.

Damn.. Seriously, I've been having the same problem with the cable modem connected but the server won't connect or "DNS" settings.. 50 mpbs has nothing to do w/ anything. Do the following... Go to start search "command prompt", type in ipconfig /release. If that doesn't work, type in ipconfig /renew, that should fix it!!
But for fuck sakes, it's not the FBI..

On a serious note, there are hundreds of reasons your internet connection shows limited or no connectivity. Less than 1% of the time does it mean you are being directly hacked or spied on. Don't jump to conclusions. The most probable cause of your issue is a virus or malware is changing your dns table. I have seen it with almost every infection I have cleaned up.

The FBI is involved in this because they have an anti-cyber warfare division and it is their job to investigate each issue to make sure the viruses aren't aimed at government systems. The claim to also try and prevent these type of attacks all together, but there is no realistic way for them to do that. They are just protecting their own shit.
