i recently read that training bare foot while working out calves is a good thing, why is this? and in my gym it is not allowed to train bare foot for some god forsaken reason, so what should i do? i usually train in running shoes, is there a special shoe or a shoe that would do better than what im using right now?

i like flat shoes like addidas samba classics. my feet roll to much in running shoes and the elevated heel gets me off balance to much.

I ALWAYS train my calves barefoot. It gets me a lotta weird looks, but I have trouble workin calves with shoes on. Try it, and see if ya get in trouble. Remember, youre a customer, they dont want to lose your business. Just dont draw attention.

it might look wierd, but wrestling shoes are pretty close to bare foot.
but if not i found a pair of my old wrestling shoes so they will probably work. they are snug. but it seems as though my heel slips up a little when i go on my toes, but we'll see how it goes. ill try them and see if i feel as though i feel my calves better or not.

thank you guys for your posts....do you guys know why some say it is better to train bare foot, just out of curiosity? lol

Why? Because a shoe is not natural, just like wearing a glove. I dont see how people wear gloves and lift, until they get used to it.

That said, I have never lifted barefoot, I work with what shoes I have. Some are better than others.

Go into china town or an store that sells asian goods and get some of those black kung fu shoes. They are usually only about 5 dollrs (at most) and are close to barefoot as well. If you are close to San Fransico they are everywhere.

Soles are way too slick for my comfort.
