Can someone answer some questions on fasting, cutting, etc./Fasting vs Multiple meals

I'm currently starting/planning a 12 week program of a cutting diet and intense exercise. My primary goal is burn off fat with a secondary objective of building up muscle. So here's a few questions I've been wondering about.

I've read some good things about fasting 1-2 days on a weekly basis but I'm concerned about this hindering muscle growth. Is it possible for me to fast once or twice a week and still be able to make gains? I was thinking of fasting only on the days I'm not lifting no more than twice in a week. Also if I do cardio on the same day that I fast could this be harmful? Has anyone here had sucess with fasting?

Another question I have is about metabolism and meal frequency. I know its generally recommended to eat about 5 to 6 small meals a day to ramp up the metabolism. Would my metabolism speed up faster if I ate once every hour? For example when I wake up I'd eat 2-3 pieces of raw brocolli, the next hour I'd eat a small serving of tuna, the next 3 hours I'd have another 2-3 pieces of brocolli per hour. And basically that would be my pattern, a small meal every 4 hours and a small snack for every hour. Would this raise my metabolism up more than just eating 5-6 small meals?

When and what should I eat before and after workouts? For example if I'm going to do a tough upper body workout what should I eat before and when I should start protein intake afterwards? Same goes for cardio, are there certain meals I should consider before and after?

Thanks for any help or suggestions. I plan on posting some pictures soon of my progress.

Fasting is a bad idea for muscle growth...good idea for cleansing...I would stay away from it for now. Buy a good cleansing product like Ultimate Cleanse if you are concerned about this.

Eating all day long is actually an excellent idea...some pros sip on a protein shake all day long betwen meals to keep the aminos flowing and the metabolism going (hey that rhymes, EMINEM in the house...only with more muscle)

It is not practicle for most peope but if you can do it...go for it...just kep a close eye on your calories so that you dont over do it.

Okay, so fasting is'nt the way to go. That actually makes me think of another question, if you're trying to cut which method would be more effective. Fasting once a week along with continuous eating (10-12 times per day) for the other 6 days of the week or just simply eating clean continuously for 7 days a week. In my mind I was thinking of fasting once a week to make sure I'm able to stay in a state of ketosis and the during the days that I eat I would eat low carbs/high protein.

I think I seen someone posting with the name Arkitech on some other board about this same topic a few weeks back, I know there are some people on this board who seen this!!! We got a good laugh!

But in all seriousness, don't fast, it's just not good for what you want to do. If you want to cleanse your body, I would say, just eat clean or I think there my be some products out there that help with flushing the baddies out of your system.

Good luck, I would take it one step at a time, read the stickies on this board, there is a ton of good info on diet/cutting/bulking and whatever else you need. If you can't find it, someone on this board most definately knows something about it.

Good luck to you!

adding muscle size and cutting doesn't mix too well, to do each one to it's most efficient state, do one or the other.

Afew peices of broccoli isn`t enough food and has no protein. If you are going to "graze" eat protein almost everytime you eat.You have to have a gram of protein per pound of bodyweight minimum to insure some gains.Fasting is very catabolic. Why noy just eat 6 times a day,it works ?
