To all of you bodybuiders out there what is best highg or low carbs. Im trying to lose some excess weight having not competed for a number of years Im trying to make a comeback to bodybuilding competition. I know it depends on what book you read. Atkins, Power Zone are all low carb high protein diets. Ive read positive and negative reviews of low carb high protrin diets. Anyone with any feedback woud be greatly appreciated bfore I test the waters. I guess I could just jump in and sink or swim but would like to hear from some of you from the trenches so to speak.
Also how much protein is to high?

Please put your questions in the appropriate forums.

Welcome to the site :wave2:

how about a nice balance 40/40/20 (protein/carb/fat)

that should be a good place to start.

and pick low glycemic carbs, brown rice, barley, whole wheat pasta, etc.

good luck!

What are you trying to do...I wouldn't go high carb if I was cutting and I wouldn't try to gain on a keto.

I highly believe in 1.5 to 2 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight for competitors, and, depending how close you are to a show, .5 to 1 gram of carbs per lb of bodyweight. This will keep you full and big, while helping to slash bodyfat.

How the heck do you find time to consume that much protein not to mention paying for it? I'm having a tough time getting 1 gram per pound.

ditto to what GP wrote.try to log your carb/pro/fat intake down.calculate things out to see how much of what you're really taking in:thumb: a food journal really helps.

I eat or drink about 60 grams 7 times per day. I pay for it by avoiding rent by living outside in a large cardboard box.

GoPro, how much of your protein comes from supplements? I try to eat as much poultry and fish as I can, but they're really inconvenient at your desk.

At most times of the year I will eat 4 meals and drink 3. Before a show, I begin eating more and drinking less.

Meat, lots of meat, plus a whey protein supplement is helpful.
