Cheat day question.

I go clubbing on Saturday nights and obvious reasons don't feel like eating on Sunday. I have one large meal in the evening. Something easy to eat like pizza or chinese takeaway. As my last training day is a Friday does my body still need extra fuel come Sunday? Would it make a huge difference to my gains (I am bulking) by cheating in this way (i.e eating less rather than more)
 
not eating all day is completely counter-productive during a bulk (or cut, for that matter). You don't grow in the gym, you grow outside of it.

A while ago i had to stay away from the gym for work reasons. I was advised they the body does not stop growing on the day you stop exercising. It is still in growth mode for the next few days. So it IS important to keep up the diet.
 
the problem with the clubbing is the alcohol/drugs. alcohol slows your metabolism, which is why you wont want to eat the next day, plus it is poison. alcohol has been shown to reduce results by around 20% (sorry i dont have the source, i learned it from some thread on this forum tho). i hope that answers the question.

It certainly makes a difference. If you use enough intensity, your muscles can require 72 hours to fully repair themselves. If you really can't help but go clubbing, then I suggest you end the week with a workout containing a series of smaller muscle groups. For example, biceps heal much faster than quadriceps.

Thats great advice which I do follow myself (on the odd occasion that I do go out clubbing like once every 3 months)
I don't really understand your question however. You state that you go out clubbing EVERY SATUARDAY and wonder not if this is going to hamper your results but if not eating all day (just about) on Sunday is going to.
I will say this about going out and getting wasted EVERY SATUARDAY (I would understand if it was once a month or every two but this is going to kill your bulk and stop you from making any results if you were on a cut) Alcohol will slow muscle growth and recovery to a crawl, it will destroy your metabollisim, ruin your diet premote the storage of fat, poision and kill brain cells and lower the production of natural Totestorone in your body.It will also leave you severly dehydrated for up to 48 hours afterwards which if you are on Creatine is just goin to ruin your cycle.Alcohol (To the extent that you are consuming this poision) does not belong in a serious bodybuilding weekly plan.
As for not eating at all the next again day this is muscle suacide (once again) as you are catabollic and dehydarated. You have pratically wasted 2 days out of your 7 just for a bit of alchol.
My advice is to just go out once a month and don't drink to the extent you are or just about all your trainning is going to be in vain.
Sorry if I've sounded blunt during this post I just thought you had better know the facts about what you are doing is sabotaging your gains.
 
Anytime your body is without protein,you are in a negative nitrogen balance which is a catabolic state.

If you are awake,you should eat every 3 hours or so no matter what day it is.You have to be consistant in your eating habits.

I`m not saying you should give up living or having a good time but you must make yourself eat no matter what.
 
Thanks for the advice. Though it's Ecstasy and not beer that's stopping me eating the next day. Trance music and clubbing comes first in my life I am afraid and as much as enjoy the gym, my weekends will always come first.

I will still go though. :)

not to crticize anyone but :wtf: Just to let you know the alcohol and drugs are destroying your gains. Ecstacy causes degeneration of muscle proteins, and im sure has annihilated a few brain cells. I wouldnt worry too much about getting to the gym until you change your lifestyle in the nutrition department. To me drinking and doing drugs regularly, and working out is like a fat person drinking slimfast trying to lose weight along with their double big mac meal 3 times a day at mcdonalds. :confused:

Yeah exactly mate. However it is upto this induvidual to choose what he want to do. Iam in the same boat as you theres no way he can train and expect his body to reover and grow while hes abusing it in this way.

I wouldn't worry about going to the gym - you'll probably self destruct in the next few years.

Why? I have been clubbing since the explosion of the rave scene in England and that was 13 years ago and I have never had any problems with Ecstasy in all that time.

Drugs do not automatically equal death and despair. Half a million people take E each week in England and there are only 10 deaths a year. Whereas alcohol accounts for over 100,000 deaths in the UK a year. I know which odds I'd rather go with.

It's got nothing to do with going with odds. Alchol and drugs maybe seen as fine to you however to the commited bodybuilder they are far from it. Bodybuilders put there bodys through sever stress just about everyday of there lifes and to go out drinking/taking drugs on there rest days is only going to have a negative effect.
We are athletes we are not the average induvidial there is no way that someone can be going out and getting wasted every weekend (wherether it's drink or drugs or whether there eating all the next day is beside the point) and expect there body to grow recover and preform at 100 per cent!.

What about muscle marys on the gay scene? They seem to manage it. Clubbing on E and yet huge muscles.

Yeah some people just have the genes to be able to get away with just about anything.

No prehaps he's not but we are answering him as honestly and as informativaly as possible. Some people do take offense to this however all we are doing is telling the truth that drinknig or taking drugs will harm your Hypertrophy goals!!
