DID YOU KNOW?

-That garlic may be a potent fat burner! Recent research points out that garlic activates AMPK, increases thermogenesis, and decreases gene activity associated with fat gain.
-That pomegranates contain unique antioxidants that may actually reverse plaque buildup in arteries.
-That studies show that greater TUT, or time under tension, while greatly associated with muscle gain, is not the best way to gain pure strength. For optimal muscle hypertrophy keep sets going for at least 40-70 seconds. For strength, quick sets of 2-5 reps usually work best.

Hope this was enjoyable and useful info! -coach Eric Broser

DID YOU KNOW?

-That a Harvard study shows that one of the many benefits of fish oils is to cut the risk of gum disease.
-That blocking Myostatin helps increase fat breakdown/use and activates genes controlling brown fat activity. (Note: creatine has been shown to help decrease Myostatin!)
-That eating broccoli with spicy foods enhances absorption of its main cancer-fighting component, sulforaphane.

it's funny how the bodybuilding community contributes to medical knowledge yet so many still put down the lifestyle. we "know" things decades before they do in many cases.

DID YOU KNOW?

-That creatine affects hypertrophy by many mechanisms, one of which is by raising levels of IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor 1) locally within muscles. IGF-1 is a powerful growth-promoting hormone.

-That cocoa is good for the heart and acts like a natural anti-inflammatory b/c of its high concentration of polyphenols.

-That stretching the opposing or antagonistic muscle to the one you are training (bis/tris, quads/hams, chest/back) in between sets will hasten recovery and improve performance of that muscle for the next set.

Hope this was enjoyable and useful info! -coach Eric Broser

-That stretching the opposing or antagonistic muscle to the one you are training (bis/tris, quads/hams, chest/back) in between sets will hasten recovery and improve performance of that muscle for the next set.

What about beta alanine? Worth the money or another worthless placebo?

Did You Know?

*That according to a German study white tea reduces growth of new fat cells and breaks down fat in existing cells.
*Studies have shown SAMe to be as effective as NSAID's in reducing pain, swelling and morning joint stiffness with far fewer potential side effects.
*That high levels of stress can contribute to increased body fat through increased release of cortisol, which converts immature fat cells into larger, more mature fat cells.

TEAM PNI Presents: "Coach Broser's Did you know?"

-That eating a handful of macadamia nuts per day can reduce cholesterol by 10%.
-Oatmeal has the highest satiety ranking of any food. This very complex carb can definitely help reduce appetite and cravings.
-The traditional "sissy squat" is perhaps the best leg exercise available for building the Rectus Femoris of the thigh, which creates that wicked split down the middle when body fat is low.

And remember, PNI is the brand that believes in TOTAL PHYSIQUE TRANSFORMATIONS manifested through HARD WORK and SUPPLEMENT INNOVATIONS!

*That creatine and beta alanine combined has been proven to be more than just additive, but SYNERGISTIC! A recent 10-week study showed a significant increase in muscle mass and a 3-fold increase in strength over a placebo group (in addition, a creatine-only group showed no body composition changes).
*That caffeine does not only increase energy and alertness but also enhances muscle pumps! In a Japanese study scientists noted that a 300 mg dose increased blood flow to the forearms through the release of greater nitric oxide. Caffeine acts directly on the endothelial cells.
*That simply inhaling the scent of grapefruit has been shown to increase metabolism and decrease appetite.
