I went and got some cottage cheese yesterday, and when I tried to eat half a cup of it last night before going to bed I almost threw up.

Is there anything I can do to make this stuff taste better, or maybe replace it with something that wont make me gag?

you get use to it, I was the same way. Just keep eating it.

Natural Peanut Butter. Works wonders, stir it in, you won't regret it.

I'll try that tonight, BritishTang. Hopefully it helps.

Not only will it taste better, but it will be more beneficial.... PB is filled with healthy fats and not to mention a good amount of protein

yes, definitely natural peanut butter! If you need some carbs, mix in some ff/sf flavoured yogurt or some fiber one.

Lots of things go with cottage cheese!! :nanner:

From this thread here I give these suggestions:
For sweet:
Cinnamon or other spices (eg: a little ginger)
Vanilla extract
Oats
Berries/fruits
Fat-free natural yoghurts (sugar-free)
Protein powder
Stevia/splenda
Nut butters
Sugar Free jams/jello
Sugar Free syrups (eg: Davinci)
Sugar Free pudding mix
Linseed meal or other nuts/seeds
Dried Fruits or a little fruit Juice
cocoa (or SF hot chocolate mix)

Or any combination of the above.

eg:
Cottage cheese + banana + peanut butter + SF maple syrup
Cottage cheese + ginger + cinnamon + SF maple syrup
Cottage cheese + blueberries + walnuts + cinnamon

For savoury:
Crushed garlic or ginger
Herbs (eg: mint, dill, basil, chives)
Spices (eg: black pepper, cumin, chili powder, cayenne pepper etc etc)
Vegetables
Tuna or Salmon
Eggs (hard boiled/soft boiled)
lemon or lime juice

You can mix it into salads, put it on top of 'jacket sweet potato' instead of real cheese, stuff vegetables with it and bake them, use it to top pasta, use it instead of ricotta in lasange, combine it with hommus (or similar) to make a high-protein 'dip'....

There are also lots of other threads on the topic and you could do a search to see if they have some idea's you could handle.

Either that - or don't eat it... You do not have to eat the stuff if you really do not like it! ;)

You could try blending it. When blended, it is comparable to milk. You can also add things to it when blending, such as fruits (I like frozen strawberries and/or bananas a lot), natural peanut butter, or whey protein.

I don't understand that if you can't stand eating cottage cheese, how in the world can you stand vegies?

I think I was thinking about it too much while trying to eat it... It was just horrible, and I took about 2 minutes between each bite. Agh... I'll try the peanut butter thing though, and this time try not to think about it.

The texture of cottage cheese is what gets me.

i must eat like 3 or 4 tubs a week, I used to like it :) you just can't think about rotten milk.

large curd and small curd vareties taste different to me because of the texture

I love cottage Cheese. I guess its God's way of making up for the fact I find all vegetables on the earth to be absolutely revolting.

I managed to eat it last night. I mixed in peanut butter and that helped a bit. I think I'll get used to it, but I definitely don't like it.

What I did to get used to it is that I mixed it with yogurt.
I use some low carb brand.
In the begining I mixed more yogurt in then after I started to get used to it I use less and less. Now I use a couple of spoons and some NPB. The dogs eat the rest of the yogurt, makes them very happy :)

cinnamon and splenda is the way to go. Eating in semi-frozen takes away some of the taste too, that's how I eat it, I like it alot.

Where do you buy your's from? I get mine at Winn-Dixie, i would assume ya'll have those up in the northern part of the state, huh? I think their's has the mildest taste of all I've had.

i agree. can't do the large curd personally. switch it up and see if that doesn't help. Bridgestone is good stuff IMO.
