Two quick questions about carbs:

1. For your macronutrient goals, do you count *all* carbs? Or do you only count impact carbs? ie. leave in fibre, sugar alcohols, etc

2. Does this change for carb cycle programs? Ex. If you were on a carb cycle program that had a no/low carb day, would a meal replacement bar that had "net" carbs of 1g but have 13g of carbs in sugar alcohols work for carb cycling or only for keto style diets?

Thanks

1. I keep track of all carbs. Unless most of your carbs are non-impact carbs then you need to make sure that you are getting more complex carbs in your diet.

2. Well, first of all you shouldn't be eating bars on a cut ;) Secondly, no carbs period on no carb days. Doesn't matter if they are impact carbs or not :)

Hey Jodi

I'm on a low carb:high carb cycle with a low day being 25% carbs (none in the evening).

Problem right now is other than protein shakes, every solid meal replacement bar I can find is carb heavy if you count all carbs. The only ones I can find that seem to have little or no carbs (and have low fat) are the ones with low "net carbs" (and lotsa sugar alcohols).

Skip the bars ya think on a cut?

Im just getting bored of lugging turkey breasts around for evening snaks =p

You can make your own protein bars :) We have several recipes and they are healthy. Commericial Protein bars for cutting is not a good idea. Most of them are loaded with junk and the glycerin in them is not going to help you much on a cut.

There are all sorts of recipes in the recipe forum to make dieting easier and convenient ;)

Yes I've recently discovered the recipe forums and gotta say, your turkey meatloaf is pretty killer :D

Haven't had much luck finding a low carb protein bar tho, but Ill dig some more!

Otherwise, I think imma go concoct something on my own! :eyebrow:

Thnx for the advice about stayin away from the commercial bars!
