I just ates some couscous totally fooled by how "clean" it looked. I'm cuttin and i guess this was pretty stupid. What I'm asking is this; is couscous roughly on the same page as oatmeal or is it more like pasta? I'm trying to stick to clean, slow burning carbs today.

I think the GI is high - I would say stick to oats.

Couscous has a GI anywhere from 58-69 depending on what type (ie morrocan). Definitely stick to oats. I have a small box of couscous that I bought, thinking it would be good for me, until I learned about GI. I have yet to touch the couscous...

Cous Cous' GI is actually up in the 80s..but really if you eat it with lean protein and fiber you'll be fine, just don't make it a habit..it's really tasty stuff

Peace.

Hmm....The GI must really depend on how it's cooked. The Glycemic Index website doesn't list it as being in the 80's. Interesting.

"just don't make it a habit..it's really tasty stuff"

I smell Nazi Germany. :chomp: "Oats will set you free" :grumble:
