As the title describes, theres a crackling noise going on in my knee when I am ascending from a ATG press. NO PAIN. Just sounds like a bowl of Snap, Crackle and Pop.

Should I be concerned since all it is is a SOUND?

Dang! Dunno, dude. I used to have shit like that in my shoulder. Doc said it was "calcium build-up from years of juggling - repetitive strain" (I was crazy into juggling for 10+years) but it doesn't happen these days. I thank Animal Flex with an afternoon glucosamine/chondroitin for that.

I was spotting a guy who had that going on in his elbow while doing incline DB press. I know he's seen a exercise-doctor recently. I wonder if that came up. I'll ask him about it.

Is it loud? Is this the first time it's started doing this?

Are you sure you're not just falling the hell apart anyway!? Herniated disks, creakin' knees, dot dot dot! :scared: wft!? You 90? Sorry.;)

I had the same problem with my left shoulder. Glucosamine fixed it.

cracking in a joint could be a few things.....crepitus, nitrogen gas being expelled, a tendon or ligament snapping back into place after joint movement.

if there is no pain, that is always a good thing. you could get it checked out to see exactly what is going on with the involved strucutre if you are worried about it.

You doing any joint/ligament sups Akira?

No. Cuz there is no pain, I wasnt worried. I actually just became worried because Ive not been wearing a mp3 player to the gym consecutively. Week after week (twice a week) I hear it, so its a reminder every time.

I guess Ill be ready for it if and when it starts to hurt.

I hear that shit during my first set of squats everytime I work out. No pain, but lots of noise....

Yes. This happened to me for many years. You see, I used to play a lot of basketball and over-extended my knee on day. Like an idiot, I kept on playing...

And I paid for it. My knew would click whenever I was doing the exercises like you did... My doctor said it was because of threads of ligament getting caught.

I have your knee checked out anyway... You don't want to ever damage it...

I have almost the exact same story. I hyper-extended my knee playing football my sophomore year. I have a popping grinding noise in my knee when I walk up stairs. No pain, just a lot of noise. I am voting for p-funks theory about tendons or ligaments snapping back into place after joint movement. I have had it for years and years with no ill effect, so I'm not going to worry about it.

I have a popping noise in my knee as well. It's weird. Although I have tendinitises in my knees. So could be something with that? I don't know.

I don't know whats worse, popping noise in your shoulder or being crazy into juggling. :P

I have it in my knee's, I was always told it's the tendon snapping back and forth, a scary though but not dangerous, just from a lack of cartilage there.

Yup. Got me through college ($180 3min shows;))
British record:21catches w/9balls.
My record:18catches w/9balls.
I was cRaZy into juggling before.

Makes me wonder where all this bodybuilding/powerlifting will take me! I have no intentions of ever stopping.

Ok I have been taking Gluco. and fish oil for almost 2 weeks now and there is still crackling going on.

Maybe I am wrong, but I couldve sworn I read on here or another source that stated that glucosamine does take time to start to work.

This true?

Oh yeah, still no pain, but I have now stopped squats, lunges, shit, almost every quad dominant exercise. :(
