Cutting Diet Critique Please

Hello Everybody,

I started my first sugar free cutting diet a week ago Sudnay and would like a critique on my menu. I also have a few questions too. But first let me give you my stats, menu, and workout.



STATS

male
30 years old
275 pounds
6' 6" tall
30% body fat



MENU

Meal 1

2 scoops whey protein powder
4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon flaxseed oil
6 strawberries

Meal 2

5 egg whites and 1 whole egg
1 can of tuna (or canned crab or canned salmon)
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
½ cup oatmeal
1 tablespoon of Splenda
1 tablespoon of capers (or olives)
Various herbs and seasonings for flavor
Salt and pepper to taste

Meal 3

8 ounces chicken (or lean beef)
2 cups vegetables
1 tablespoon butter
Various herbs and seasonings for flavor
Salt and pepper to taste

OR

2 scoops whey protein powder
4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon flaxseed oil
6 strawberries

Meal 4 (often omitted, but working on it)

8 ounces chicken (or lean beef)
2 cups vegetables
1 tablespoon butter
Various herbs and seasonings for flavor
Salt and pepper to taste

OR

2 scoops whey protein powder
4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon flaxseed oil
6 strawberries


Meal 5

8 ounces fish
Salad w/ SF oil based dressing (or 2 cups vegetables w/ butter)
½ cup brown rice (or baked sweet potatoes like fake fries)

Meal 6

2 scoops whey protein powder
4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon flaxseed oil

Water

3 liters

Cheat Day

Every Saturday where I have something like pizza and desert



WORKOUT

Monday ??? chest, shoulders, triceps, and abs
Tuesday ??? cardio and abs
Wednesday ??? back, lats, biceps, and abs
Thursday ??? cardio and abs
Friday ??? legs and abs
Saturday and Sunday off



COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS

How does this look?

Since I've only been on this meal plan for a week and one half, I'm not totally used to eating this much. I had one heck of a sugar headache and withdrawals the first week, but I think I'm through most of it. I can really feel and see a difference already.

I can do five meals a day (three meals and two protein drinks) and eat about every three hours.

I think I'm most concerned with the little things like:
Is salt OK?
Is using ceaser salad dressing w/ no sugar and high fat OK?
Are capers in my eggs OK?
Is Pure Whey OK before bed?

I'm a good cook, but I have to learn how to cook with the ingredients acceptable for this meal plan, but I don???t know about things like spices, herbs, coconut milk, sauces, salt, pepper, etc. Are extras OK? What would you recommend to spice these meals up?

I looked your plan over quickly and I just want to say the first thing that jumped out at me was your Shakes. You have WAY too much fat in there.
Either: 4 T of Heavy Cream OR 1 T. Flax Seed Oil not both. Both puts that meal up to 34G Fat in 1 meal. Thats a little high.

Newmans Own Ceasar Dressing would be good to use. You can add spices and seasoning providing it doesn't add more than 5 calories per meal. 100% Whey mixed with the Cream OR Flax before bed is fine. The fat helps slow down the fast digestion of100% Whey. Sorry, I don't know what capers are. I would defiantely increase your water intake, try to work your way up to 5-6L a day. And I would try to limit your Saturday to a cheat MEAL instead of a cheat day. The rest of your meal plan looks pretty good to me.

......however, because of your BW....I would up the protein in the shakes (unless you're using something like Pro Complex that has 55 P in 2 scoops) to about 50-55 P per serving.

Listen to Jodi on the fat and water... :)

Be wary of spices.......salt and cinnamon are good, some others can drive your hunger and sweet tooth throuh the roof.


I would also drop your ab W/O's...to just Tues and Thurs, with an optional Sat, despite what you may have heard about ab W/O frequency :D

I was just starting to wonder about the cream/flax combo. I'll switch to one or the other.

I'm working on the water. I think I'm able to increase a liter each week. I lost count of how many bathroom trips I make last night alone.

Capers are like little olives. They are flower buds pickled in vinegar. 2 tablespoons hold less that 1g total carbs. They are tasty!

I was planning on making my cheat day a cheat meal. My first cheat "day", I ate my first meal as a high carb. The whole time I was like, "This isn't even worth it." Also I read somewhere here that one cheat blows it for only a few hours, but two cheats blows the whole day. Not worth it for all the effort Put in during the week.

My protein powder has 26g per scoop.

"some spices can drive your hunger and sweet tooth throuh the roof" - Could you please tell me which ones you are aware of.

Thanks again everyone. I've seen the hundreds of posts the two of you have made here and it's really amazing. I just want to thank both of you for taking your time to help so many of us. I'm sure some people come and hear what you have to say but don't use it. But for me, I've never heard so much information about food and exersise that feels like truth.
 
Your welcome! I'm not the expert here though, w8 & DP are! :thumb: I just try to help where I can and its all what I learned from them.

Have you read the Best Nutritional Threads sticky at the top of this forum? There are a ton of great article that the 2 of them put together that provide alot of great info!

The best way around this is eat your usual meals and then IF you need a cheat meal (like on saturday) eat it in your last meal of the day. If your cheat meal is the first meal of the day you have a better chance of blowing the whole day wide open. Or give your self a time window to cheat in, ie Sat. night from 7pm-10pm you can cheat.
