I am going to be cutting dairy out of my diet for the last couple weeks of my cut and have a couple of questions:

- Do eggs count as dairy? I think I read the reason dairy is removed during cutting cycles is because they are high in sugars. Eggs don't contain any or large amounts of sugars.
- For my bedtime meal, I usually make a shake consisting of 3/4 cup cottage cheese, 3/4 cup milk, and 3/4 scoop whey protein. I also usually take 3 fish oil caps and a tablespoon of natural peanut butter. How would you guys suggest I alter this bedtime meal for the last couple of weeks?

For those who have cut dairy out of their diets completely while cutting, are the differences pretty noticable? For my last cut, I had kept in dairy and gotten good results. Should the dairy make a noticable difference? And if so, how quickly would the effects of sans dairy dieting appear?

dairy = cow (or possibly goat)
eggs = chicken

cow != chicken

:)

I think dairy refers to milk and milk by-products.....milk, cream, cheeses, butter, but heres' the kicker and only Emma could probably answer this one....whey and casein protein is effectively dairy...would it be better to go to a different major protein source on the last couple weeks of a really strict cut ie: increase consumption of lean meats, chicken, turkey, game meats, fish and cut out even Whey or nighttime casein? Or keep only the Whey in the diet and eliminate all other dairy sources (where you can)?

Good question. I think dairy is an individual thing but most competitors will nix it the last couple of weeks b4 competition (or so I've heard).

Don't know the answer to that one.

When was the last time you saw a cow lay an egg... ;)

No - eggs are not dairy.

And the reason why dairy is removed is more about tradition than anything else. It is not 100% neccesary and I have many friends who get and remain very cut eating a lot of dairy (and I do/have too). If people where keen to remove sugar then they wouldn't eat sweet potato or vegetables.

The reason why removing dairy helps is
1. it drops calories
2. some people (not everyone) finds it makes them hold sub cut water (and this is not a problem unless you are getting on stage)

If you are hell bent on cutting dairy then something like:
Salmon + vegetables
eggs + whites + vegetables
tuna + pb + vegetables

would all be fine.

Personally, I don't cut dairy and I have had excellent results. Dairy, for me, has waaaaay too many benefits to cut out.

Thanks! As mentioned, I got great results on my last cut with dairy, but wanted to give the non-dairy thing a try for the last couple weeks of this cut. What do you think of this bedtime meal?:

10 Egg Whites
1 Tbsp Natural Peanut Butter
3 Fish Oil Caps

TakeP butter out and see how your body react to the rest.
I am cutting now and dairy is included. If by 4th week things are not changing I might lower it again and again.
