Deadlifting and my shins bleed and scrape

I wear shorts to the gym every day except back/bi day just for this reason. My shins are scared from deadlifts.

I dont deadlift real heavy usually 145lbs to 185lbs for 8-10 reps but i always scrape my shins is this a sign of bad form??

Your straightening at the waist before you clear the knees. I dead well over 300lbs for reps and NEVER scrap the shins.

Scraping against your shins is good, it means you are pulling the back back towards your body, instead of straight up, it also indicates you are probably sitting back and driving into your heels.

The Trap Bar simulates more of a squat than deadlift.

Kenny Croxdale

It is closer to a squat on the continuum, but it still stimulates the posterior chain plenty. It also depends on how you position when doing them, just like a conventional deadlift. In fact, I saw a recent biomechanical analysis in the NSCA research journal indicating that, from a total force production standpoint, the trap bar deadlift is superior to the conventional deadlift. There was a small decrease in erector spinae activity traded for a significant increase in quadriceps activity.

keep it about an inch away from your skins, alot of people tend to lift their butt up if the bar is touching their shins too early. Personally i like it scraping about half to 3/4 the way up to give me a little discomfort to pull harder... you can also put some chalk on your shins and it will help a little.
