Hi,
Is there a way to build musclemass and get cut at the same time? Right now my Upperbody Routine is focused more on building mass...(Low reps/High Weight) But I want more definition...especially in the arms/shoulder. ANy suggestions? THanks

Routine/diet/stats/time training

These are really 2 opposing goals Pete, however, there are some steps you can take to get a good balance of the two....first, always train for muscle. There is no such thing as training for definition for the most part. Train intense and heavy to build more muscle. Second, do some cardio. When I say some, I mean about 3 days per week, preferably on non training days. No more than 30 minutes at a time, best done on an empty stomach. Third, utilize a high protein, moderate carb, moderate fat approach to diet. This type of diet will build quality muscle without adding too much fat. Go with about 1.5 grams of protein per lb of bodyweight, 1 gram of carbs per lb and add a couple of tablespoons of flax and/or olive oil into your diet. With these basics, you should be able to build size and keep the bodyfat under control. Good luck!

I agree with what gopro said.

You really should focus on one or the other.

Typically when you're trying to get cut you're goal is to retain as much muscle as you can. Sometimes you lose some in the process.

When you're "bulking", you typically gain some fat along with the muscle gains.

I'm not saying that it's impossible to do both simultaneously, just not the most practical approach. If you still wish to do that, gopro gave you some good guidelines. :)

Hmmm...I generally take Protein Supplements ( Twinlab) and I take 2 doses the day I work out. I lift weights 4 days a week and im also an Avid Mountain Biker so I ride at least 4 times a week also( Rides last at least 2 hrs and they are on rocky technical trails of the east coast). I think the biking more than satisfies the aerobic part of my training routine. Maybe it is my lifting routine? I eat (4) 1lb steaks a week also to help in the protein department. Thanks!

sounds like the mountain biking is riding away your hard earned muscle for fuel.......... a general rule for putting on mass........Never run if you can walk.....Never walk if you can stand....Never stand if you can sit....and never sit if you can lay down
