hi guys......

i've got a question about nutrition. what is your opinion on eating deli cold cuts like ham ? i've been buying it and usually eat a hero after my workouts ( low fat bread, ham cold cut, lettuce, tomatoe, NO mayo).

sometimes, i'll subsitute a homemade chicken hero (lettuce, tomatoe, NO mayo), when i can, but what about the ham?

~ was just wondering if this is a good thing to eat or not .

thanks !

First of all cold cuts and other processed meats and preserved with sodium nitrite. You are better off with lean cuts of chicken and steak. Processed meats are usually full of crap and not a very healthy source of protein.

Secondly, depending on your goals your real issues with that meal is certainly not the mayo its the meat and the bread! I use mayo all the time as a fat source (in particular I buy or make safflower mayo).

What kind of bread are you eating?

I would stay away from the cold cuts and make a can of tuna with some mayo and if your bulking have it on whole grain bread. :)

jodi, can you please post your resume for saflower mayo? I always see you talking about it and I would like to try my hand at making some.

I have 2, their in the recipe forum :p

EFA Mayo

Safflower Mayo

2nd one tastes better but 1st one is healthier. :D Just be careful when you add the oils, do it slowly because most of the time you don't need as much as its called for. Approx 12G Fat per T. :D

i usually buy regular supermarket bread (hero's) my goal is just toning my present phyique.

Toning?? What's toning?? :)

You either build muscle or you don't build muscle.

You would be better off switching to a whole grain bread. I wouldn't have the cold cuts though, make your own fresh turkey sandwiches or tuna sandwiches with a little mayo, lettuce tomato and whole grain bread! :D

Damn I want a samich now :(
