Ok, freshly sliced meats from the Deli; Are these ok? I have done a little research and found a butcher shop. They have deli meats, but they still look like they come prepackaged. However, they carry a brand called Boar's Head. I bought 2 LB's of Boar's Head Turkey, which was 8 dollar a LB.

Is this acceptable, or is it too processed to eat?

Lots of salt in that stuff

Foreman is correct for most meats, but you can buy some that are low(er) in sodium. Look for the one's with the American Heart Association logo, I think their regulations cover sodium.

most deli meats are chopped up meat combined w/ salt, preservatives and stuff and formed in to a shape.

Boars head is the good stuff, preservative and nitrate free.

The sodium is from the broth they cook the breast in... the stuff is all natural, just like if you cooked it at home except its stuck in a plastic bag and sold to supermarkets.

I get the roast beef all the time... primo stuff.

eat up.

The quality justifies the cost.

Good stuff, but there is alot of fat with the meat, you can pick it off though. The eye round is leaner and tastes better imo.

Hmmm I'm looking at Cajon Style Seasoned Eye Round Roast Beef:

Serving 2oz-

Total Fat- 2g
Sat fat .5g
Mono- 1g
Sodium 260mg
Protein-14g

Oh damn this is leaner! The only different is the greater amount of sodium, but does it really matter? I'd prolly have 4-5 oz at a time, so not really any more sodium then a cup of cottage cheese.

Can I really use this as a staple in a clean bulking/cutting diet? If so I am pretty excited to have a whole new source of protein!!!!!

You're not going to stop me from eating this meat, damn you. I have already convinced myself that it is ok. The only person that is going to stop me is someone like Emma, who usually shows up to give me the bad news.

Just eat the fucking deli meat, keep your cals below maintenance if cutting.

I am waiting for Emma to post, and either give the :thumb: or :finger:

Dude, cals in vs cals out, you don't have to get so ridiculously detailed in your diet, those who do typically fail. Unless you are a competitor cutting for a show you are fine.

Of the meats, Boars' Head is the finest, though.

I dont understand...What if I want to cut to 5% bf? I can have oreo's as long as they fit in my daily allowance?

Yes, although you will hold water from the sugar.

I'm so confused. Why am I clean bulking (eating all clean foods) if i could eat fast food and have the same output, other then health concerns.

I don't know?

Oh, you are bulking. I would make sure you get whatever your protein requirement is, and let everything else set itself. You can eat crap and gain just quality weight, but it is harder because the amount of food will be so small.

well, considering most deli roast beef has around 700-1000mg per 2 oz serving i'd say its pretty acceptable. Wouldnt you :D
