Republicrat with centrist tendencies. Having been a Republican but now despising the party leaders ... and the majority of its supporters ... as self centered global rapists sporting environmental blinders and a hard on for any country populated by brown skinned people I can no longer call myself that.
I am against gun control, require severe limits on abortion, and feel that all references to Emo should be removed form our schools for the safety of our children BUT feel that pictures of Allah plastered all over the school and suras served up for breakfast are a great way to start the morning

The Actors party put Ahhhnold in the Govna's house in California and the Wrestling party has also had some success. The Oil Party bucked up and bought the last president his job. That was kinda funny to see on TV ... they ran a dog and pony show with Lurch from the Adams Family and some guy that shoulda been in a Tarzan movie. All these parties make for good entertainment that lasts for many months.

don't kid yourself vieope...both sides act very similar. They would like you to think they are very different, but they aren't.
Historical background:
Democrats-support a strong centralized government, that looks out for poor. They traditionally support higher taxes to to fund massive social programs. For example the democrats invented the social security system...They are big on national health care and welfare. They have a more "socialistic" stance...but not the socialism you are probably thinking of.
Republicans-support a more decentralized gov't. Lower taxes with less provisions for the public including the poor. "The government that governs least, governs the best" They support states individual rights.
Modern differences:
Democrat-Pro-choice, health care reform, more emphasis on civil liberites, founders of affirmative action
Republican-Pro-life, tax breaks (some argue that the tax breaks benefit the rich more...but everyone recieves some type of benefit), A different opinion on the war in Iraq.
They would like everyone to think they are different on the following issues, but in reality they are the same:
The war on terror
immigration
the culture of corruption
support of big business
looking out for little guy
This isn't a complete analysis but it should shed some light on the subject for you in Brazil. It red or blue in the US (except for 1 lonely US representative in Congress who is independent....in Vermont)
