Dick Cheney: "So?"

If he's so hellbent on getting money, why bother to donate so many millions to charity?

It doesn't make any sense.

If you actually care about that kind of stuff you can go examine Barack Obama's wife and the raise she got from her Chicago employer after Barack was elected to the US Senate (I believe her salary was tripled) and the earmarks Barack secured for that hospital. I assume if Cheney disgusts you for that possibility in your mind, then you wouldn't want to elect another person who would do the exact same thing.

Donate money to charity to make yourself look good. Wow, how hard is that to understand? It's practically a prerequisite if your in the position of say, a vice president. Approve some no-bid contracts, and do your lobbyists bidding = way more profit for you and your friends, and in the more power. Charity is a drop in the bucket, and I know you understand that but would never admit it.

Barrack Obama is your red herring. Barrack did it, so it's OK for Cheney to do it, and infact forget about Cheney and focus on barrack. Logical fallacies.

You and DOMS always use red herring and ad hominem attacks:

Attack the person (me) and not the arguement (about cheney), and if that doesn't work, make sweeping generalizations about other people that have nothing to do with it (red herring -- Obama).

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, (since this is the second time I've referenced this in two days) but it was only after I watched a multi-part commentary on the events of 9-11 that I understood many of the factors involved with, rather, behind this conflict.

Cheney, Bush, and the members of PNAC have a lot to benefit from the conflict. Of course the people would play off any questions regarding the extraction of troops and the end of this campaign...they have yet to wring the last bit of money out of the situation.

The point I'm trying to make is addressed in this segment. Check it out if you have time.....
YouTube - 9/11 Coincidences (Part Eleven)

Again, I am not trying to push a paranoia driven opinion on anyone. I just thought the questioned raised in this little micro-documentary were interesting.

You'll get attacked for this because your asking questions. You're not allowed to ask questions or they'll label you as a conspiracy theories and crazy liberal. Stick to the facts that are given to you by the mainstream media, and you might slide by.

:nerd: Well put.

How do you prepare Red Herring?

Curried Red Herring on Rye Toasts

Serves8 (makes 40 hors d’oeuvres)
Active Time:30 min Start to Finish:35min
February 2004
Indian spices have been part of Scandinavian cuisine for hundreds of years thanks to the region's thriving shipping trade.
4 slices seedless rye bread
1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 (7- to 8-oz) jar pickled herring (preferably small), rinsed, drained, and patted dry
2 1/2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 1/2 tablespoons sour cream
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
2 teaspoons coarse-grain mustard
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon sugar
Garnish: chopped fresh chives
Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 350??°F.
Discard crusts from bread and cut bread into 40 (1 1/2-inch) triangles. Arrange triangles in a shallow baking pan (1 inch deep), then brush tops with butter and sprinkle with salt. Bake until golden, 10 to 12 minutes, then cool.
If using large herring, discard skin and dark flesh. Cut large or small herring into 1/4-inch pieces. Whisk together remaining ingredients in a bowl, then stir in herring. Top each toast with 1/2 teaspoon curried herring.
Cooks' note: Toasts can be made 1 day ahead and kept in an airtight container at room temperature. Curried herring can be made 6 hours ahead and chilled, covered. Look for jarred fillet pieces of herring (sometimes labeled "Tidbits") sold in the refrigerated section of the supermarket.

Red Herring......The other Dark Meat.

Yes, obviously that was his motive, good PR. I'm sure he really cares about PR, that's why he has told Bush to pull us out of Iraq since the polls say so.

I read he donated a lot of that portion to the cardiology department of George Washington U, considering he has heart problems, is it really that difficult to believe that he actually might want to help fund research so others might not have to suffer as much as him in the future?

I don't pretend to know his mindset though, apparently some people can easily read his mind and know his motivation.

Obama isn't a red herring, if Dick Cheney's potential connections to Halliburton are troubling to people, it should be pretty important that we don't elect another person with the same issues.

If I handed you a hand grenade, you'd probably freak out.

But if I handed you an expensive hand grenade adorned with colorful little flowers and little smilie faces....and it smelled like your favorite ice cream and your childhood blankie....I have a feeling you'd feel all warm and fuzzie right before it blew your arse up.

I think it's fucking hilarious that some of you were taking about how it wasn't "that bad" under Saddam, but Cheney is pure evil.

And by "fucking hilarious", I mean, fucking pathetic.

Same arguments as always. I post a legitimate question and/or opinion, and since you have no way to refute it you simply go "LOL LIBERAL".

Come back when you are half as conservative as I am by the way.

Cheney is my Nixon.....

What? You mean this shit?

It's all conjecture since none of us lived there, however I think that life was maybe more predictable under Saddam than it is right now. At least under Saddam you would be moderately safe assuming you weren't an activist or something similar. Right now it's almost an "anything goes" environment.

"It's all conjecture" but you have the inside knowledge that "I think that life was maybe more predictable under Saddam than it is right now"? Do you mean that bullshit?

Because that's what it is: bullshit.

You said that we can't really know because we don't live there, but that things were better when Saddam was in charge. What with his torture and killing and all. :bulb:

That sort of shit refutes itself.

What about "I think" don't you understand?

"I think" usually denotes something called an "opinion". If you need definitions of these lengthy words, I would be happy to provide a dictionary reference.

I don't mind arguments or debates, but cut this dumb shit out. I expect it from brogers and such, but not from you.

I know what an opinion is. So this is an opinion?

"At least under Saddam you would be moderately safe assuming you weren't an activist or something similar."

That doesn't sound like an opinion. You seem a bit confused.

Me? Not be caustic? Pshaw.

It's not bullshit, it's perfectly clear to me that he thinks that life might have maybe possibly been better under Saddam, perhaps.

Oh, why oh why don't you make a lengthy reasoned response to such a rational argument?

Most interesting part of the whole topic is this: People are more angry at Dick Cheney than at the islamic extremists who are planting bombs to target Iraqi civilians and our soldiers who are trying to keep the peace there. It really is a sad time.

Liberals have been that way for a long time.

Republicans do things out of capitalistic dominance and general greed.
Liberals do things out of stupidity.

I'm more of a "greed" person.

I apologize, next time I'll use a semi-colon to denote a continuation of the thought since apparently it wasn't obvious enough.

If you want to start defining segments of the response, then I will also remind you that I had said "It's all conjecture" which would imply that anything following is purely opinion based.

Again this has nothing to do with being caustic or whether you're a dick or not; you wouldn't be the DOMS we all know and love if you said only nice things and loved Mexicans. This is purely about you not arguing your point, but rather attacking anyone who makes points counter to yours. The same thing brogers did once again in the above post, but again I've come to expect that from someone of his level.

Would that be the level about 20 floors above you?

Like Cheney cares, is that the only country going through a conflict?
We can't keep policing the whole world, where should we go next ...to Colombias aid?

What's to debate?

That Cheney is an ass? There's no debate there. He needs a good wiping.

That the Iraqi people were better off with Saddam in power? None of us has enough real information to answer that one.

Not that I care. I don't give a rat's ass about the Iraqi people, or any Arab people for that matter. What I do care about is that his state sponsored terrorism (not just Al-Qaeda) is over. So it his nuclear weapons plans.

I'm also bothered by the idea of brining "democracy" to those degenerates. It's a waste of American lives and money.

I thought he cared, and that's why he donates money to charity--for PR. At least, that's what the geniuses that are inside his head told us in this thread.

"It would have to happen on Easter Sunday, wouldnâ??????t it, that the 4,000th American soldier would die in Iraq. Play me that crazy preacher again, will you, about how maybe God, in all his infinite wisdom, may not exactly be blessing America these days. Is anyone surprised? 4,000 dead. Unofficial estimates are that there may be up to 100,000 wounded, injured, or mentally ruined by this war. And there could be up to a million Iraqi dead. We will pay the consequences of this for a long, long time. God will keep blessing America.
And where is Darth Vader in all this? A reporter from ABC News this week told Dick Cheney, in regards to Iraq, â?????two-thirds of Americans say itâ??????s not worth fighting.â??? Cheney cut her off with a one word answer: â?????So?â???

â?????So?â??? As in, â?????So what?â??? As in, â?????F*** you. I could care less.â???

I would like every American to see Cheney flip the virtual bird at the them, the American people. Click here and pass it around. Then ask yourself why we havenâ??????t risen up and thrown him and his puppet out of the White House.

The Democrats have had the power to literally pull the plug on this war for the past 15 months â?????? and they have refused to do so. What are we to do about that? Continue to sink into our despair? Or get creative? Real creative. I know there are many of you reading this who have the chutzpah and ingenuity to confront your local congressperson. Will you? For me?Cheney spent Wednesday, the 5th anniversary of the war, not mourning the dead he killed, but fishing off the Sultan of Omanâ??????s royal yacht. So? Ask your favorite Republican what they think of that. The Founding Fathers would never have uttered the presumptuous words, â?????God Bless America.â??? That, to them, sounded like a command instead of a request, and one doesnâ??????t command God, even if they are America. In fact, they were worried God would punish America. During the Revolutionary War, George Washington feared that God would react unfavorably against his soldiers for the way they were behaving. John Adams wondered if God might punish America and cause it to lose the war, just to prove His point that America was not worthy. They and the others believed it would be arrogant on their part to assume that God would single out America for a blessing. What a long road we have traveled since then.

I see that Frontline on PBS this week has a documentary called â?????Bushâ??????s War.â??? Thatâ??????s what Iâ??????ve been calling it for a long time. Itâ??????s not the â?????Iraq War.â??? Iraq did nothing. Iraq didnâ??????t plan 9/11. It didnâ??????t have weapons of mass destruction. It DID have movie theaters and bars and women wearing what they wanted and a significant Christian population and one of the few Arab capitals with an open synagogue.

But thatâ??????s all gone now. Show a movie and youâ??????ll be shot in the head. Over a hundred women have been randomly executed for not wearing a scarf. Iâ??????m happy, as a blessed American, that I had a hand in all this. I just paid my taxes, so that means I helped to pay for this freedom weâ??????ve brought to Baghdad. So? Will God bless me?

God bless all of you in this Easter Week as we begin the 6th year of Bushâ??????s War.

God help America. Please."

The words "propaganda" and "garbage" are not lowly enough to describe this piece. I could easily spend and hour tearing this apart, but instead of wasting my time I'll just say this:

1. The four thousandth person is not necessarily any more or less important that #3,999 or #4,001. The liberal obsession with taking any fanciful occasion to drone in people's ears apparently has no limits.

2. The casualties of the war were not killed by Dick Cheney any more than they were killed by Hillary Clinton, who voted in favor of the war. To state as much obviates any shred of credibility this piece might have had.

3. I am glad that the appeal to Christian holidays and God is used whenever convenient by rabid liberals, but then discarded as soon as they want to sue a local municipality for spending spare change on a nativity scene.

4. And most importantly, DON'T BITCH ABOUT YOUR FUCKING TAXES IF YOU ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL UNDOUBTEDLY RAISE THEM.

Can you put a price on 4000 dead soldiers.

The only people responsible for those soldiers are the muslim fanatics who are actively trying to kill them with the most despicable tactics, including strapping remote-controlled bombs to the mentally handicapped.

Again, this is the most disgusting part of people in this thread. You don't even blame the enemy, you blame America. This is why you will lose in November.

I'm just curious how you would respond to the mass borrowing and printing of money that has caused the massive loss of value in the dollar. Although it's not a printed tax, it's still essentially a tax. One that has cost us over 50% of the value of our dollar which is more insidious than any tax raise could be.

I don't blame America, Cheney is an individual.

I basically agree with the majority of that, although he never had ties directly to Al-Qaeda and in fact hated Osama Bin Laden. My major quarrel with our current state of affairs is why the hell are we still there five years after capturing Saddam?

If a terrorist sponsored nation did indeed rise in it's place, then it would quickly find the world united against it.

Good plan, pull out, then invade again in a few years later after the terrorists have dug in and it's reverted from a healing country back to a mess.
