Yea, too many people get caught up in the whole cardio weight loss deal. Weight lifting is just as important, if not, more important (always a topic of debate) then cardio when it comes to true lean mass and weight loss.

As for the energy thing, you may want to try a multi-vitamin so help get your extra fill of vitamins. I see you eat veggies, but sometimes you may still be lacking in certain vitamins or minerals, especially with the cardio and weight lifting. Just a suggestion, as some folks don't feel you need a multi, but it helps me out.

is it possible i am getting an insulin spike from the 25 or so grams of sugars from my protein shake?

Ummmm yeah! Any sugar causes an insulin spike.

oh, one other thing--you mentioned you include weight gainer in your last meal. the consensus opinion here seems to be that weight gainer products are almost always garbage.

so any sugar causes insulin spikes, with only 25 g though looks like i can't have any.

garethhe,

now why would gainers be garbage?

i don't know what precise brand you are taking, but check the nutritional label. is it chock full of sugar or saturated fat?

sugars was def something i looked out for.

for 600 cals a serving 28g, was the best on the market.

i thought 28g was def appropriate.

Ummm... yeah.... I think the technical word for N-large is 'junk'....

Also - You don't just look at the macronutrients - look at the ingredients...

Make your own - oats + fruit + skim milk + PB + whey/protein powder = perfectly acceptable shake.

please explain more why it is junk.

it seems to have all the main things im looking for. is there something detrimetnal about it, or is it just not as the same quality as "natural" foods?
