Need help with diet. Some back ground. Former college football player. Currently 6'5", 295lbs., 38" waiste,18% bf. Was once down to 255lbs. 7% bf with the help of artifical help. When I look at the BMR on my caloric needs, I can not see how it will help me lose fat.

Need good advice. Be kind I am new here. Thanks

DMC....realize that you need to split up those calories into 6 smaller meals a day. Your body will adjust and kick your metabolism into a higher gear, burning fuel effeciently, instead of shutting down. That's the most common mistake people make is not eating enough and slowing their metabolism down. Once you find out how much it takes to maintain your lbm, then you can tweak it down a notch if you want to lose some weight. BTW, how many calories did you figure you need. Just guessing by your weight, I would think it would be at least 3700-3900 range!

I figured about 4000 cals. Tried eating six meals a day. I was always eating and feeling full. My weight over a two week peroid was going up about by 5lbs. So i would back off. Is the intial weight gain normal or was it just water? Maybe my bmr is low. I also hit the weights hard 5-6 days per week.

Welcome to IM DMC :hello:

Just as important as how much you're eating is what you're eating. Why don't you post your current diet and let us have a look at it :D
