I've been using Optimum Nutrition Creatine Monohydrate for a while now, and I'm getting a little frusterated with it not dissolving completely. I've read many of you take it with grape juice, I've been using gatorade or water. Is there any trick to get it to dissolve better?

I've tried a few things I remembered from chemistry, like using warmer water.

Thanks

Don't expect creatine monohydrate to be completely dissolved in water or juice etc. The best you can expect is a temporary suspension.

Just stir it vigourously and swallow it quickly. And don't leave it in suspension too long, otherwise it will convert to creatinine.

Thanks, that's exactly what I've been doing. Just making sure I'm not missing out on something! :thumb:

When I take it after my workout I throw it is my whey shake so it is no problem. When I take it in the morning I have no patience so I just put the scoop in my mouth and then down a big chug of water. (lazy). I know it isn't the best thing to do but...

Well, I WAS heating the water in the microwave and disolving the creatine in the hot water. Worked well to disolve the creatine. However, I have come to the conclusion that it prolly is not the best thing to do, due to having to wait a while for the solution to cool. After looking at this and many other sites, I concluded that it would be best to just scoop the stuff in my mouth and chase it with water in the morning; and scoop in my mouth and chase with dex/malto drink post WO. Creatine has no taste. So now I do not mix my creatine with anything, just scoop into mouth. I have been doing this for about a month now.

Pfft!

Real mean take their creatine with battery acid! :)

On a related note, someone on this board mentioned that one of the things that creatine does is lessen the burn from latic acid. I'm not sure if it's psychosematic or not, but the burn really has seem to lessen.

Is it just all in my head?

If you drink coffee, mix it in that, or tea. The warmer the better, I wouldn't chug it either.

certainly not, creatine phospate (CP) helps to buffer lactic acid...

Lactic acid is a by-product of glycolysis, which kicks in when the ATP-CP system begins to run out of gas. Elevated lactic acid concentrations is recognized as a major cause of fatigue. As lactic acid levels rise with continued muscular effort, the increasing acidity inactivates the enzymes used in glycolysis, thus limiting the energy available to muscles. Fatigue soon sets in and remains until the system can restore a balance that is more favorable to exercise. By helping to neutralize excess lactic acid, CP reduces the consequences of lactic acidosis, and thus, makes muscles more resistant to fatigue.

Try taking micronized creatine it dissolves very quickly. Check out this web sitw for very cheap creatine. I've used this site to buy my own creatine (HDT MICRONIZED CREATINE, they also sell AST MICRONIZED CREATINE)
www.netrition.com

I've heard that creatine loses its effect when it is warm, maybe I'm wrong... doesn't matter though.

The vast majority of creatine monohydrate is micronized. Before micronization people often complained of bloating and stomach cramps. Micronized or not it still doesn't dissolve well.
