Hey people, i'm new to the site. It's a great site and i'm learning a lot from it.

Iv'e been told that I have a large chest and will be easy to mantain in the future.
I have never done any weight training (bench press etc) - I only do push ups and sit-ups every now and then. I was wondering if you think my chest is naturally big or iv'e just been told bullshit?

By the way i'm 16 years old.

cheers

you look like a skinny 16yr old kid to me.

Keep lifting and doing what you are doing. You should be hitting some mean growth spurts soon.

I wasnt going to say it.

What?? I wasn't trying to be mean or anything. He asked if he had good genetics. I told him he is just skinny and needs to grow. he is only 16. He may have great genetics to get big once he hits a growth spurt.

good genetics for what? if youre alive and are fotunate enough to be well, you have good genetics. for getting your body the way you want it, i dont think genetics plays as important of a role as many people might say. just dont worry about it and exercise/eat right.

Guys, remember iv'e have done zero training whatsoever, just pushups and sit-ups. Compared to gym-addicts of course i;m going to look skinny. I just wanted to hear your opinions.

No need for the hostile welcome guys!

welcome to the site Dragon!!!!

do you think I have good genetics?? ive been working out on and off for about 10yrs, mainly off though! get a good routine and you can look like me in no time!!

To use this chart first divide your bodyweight by your height in inches. (Example: If you are 150 lbs and you are 5 foot 9 inches (69 inches) then you would take 150 divided by 69) This will give your weight per inch of height. When this is determined select the figure in the far left column that is closest to yours. Then, follow the figures straight across to learn your ideal proportions. Women bodybuilders may have to adjust measurements in the area of hips, waist, and chest depending on build.

I have no idea what you just posted...........is it some computer program or an Algebraic equation.

You ask..........BULLSHIT!! :bulb:

Genetics really have more to do with the size of your muscle bellies, recovery abilitiy, and the way you process food. All of these things are nearly impossible to tell. Some people have good genetics even if they're quite skinny naturally.

Okay, I will be completely honest because I assume that is what you want.

Let me prefice this by saying my definition of "good genetics" is someone that is a natural athlete, which is commonly defined as a "mesomorph" body type.

By looking at those pics, NO you do not have "good genetics" (you are not a mesomorph), you're 16 and you are already starting to look chubby, meaning you're carrying excess bodyfat in your abdomen, I am not saying you are fat.

Does this mean you cannot attain a great physique? Absolutely not, you can start weight training and eating properly and have a great physique if that is your goal. :thumb:

I dont know who told you that you have a large chest, but I dont see anything protruding to be honest. None of that means that you can't go far, certainly at a better point than you are now, but I would almost ask if the person who said you have a large chest was 5 years old or something.

Anyhow, happy lifting.

You look fine, probably better than most guys your age. I don't think you look chubby either and will mostly likely lean toward a mesomorphic body type although the results or lack of them with training would most likely tell you your body's natural tendency. Good luck with your training and enjoy.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh He's cracked the Matrix. :)

I'd say you're average, and I'd rather be average than what I am, so take that as a compliment.

This thread is kind of moot, because even if your genetics suck you probably have the potential to blow away 99% of the gym rats out there. If you use knowledge to your advantage, then you can build a great physique even with mediocre or average genetics.

Can't help but agree with that.

i wouldnt consider your chest naturally big. i used to think i had a naturally big chest when i was 16. but after i started lifting, it naturally got lots bigger. just lift some weights. if youre inclined to have a bigger chest, it will explode in size.
