I'm not sure what is and isn't affected by fasting. Every time I've ordered the "female panel" on privatemdlabs they tell you to fast but I don't know what I'll be losing if I don't fast. I'd imagine blood glucose is obviously affected, but anything else?

I'm really wanting to get bloods done, but my schedule's crazy and theres no chance I can get in first thing in the morning. I refuse to fast until the afternoon.

I always fast...but damn good question. Id like to know the answer to this as well

not sure but i do as they request. every 6 weeks fasting. hormones my doc says are not affected. no need to fast.

I never fasted cause I was only concerned about my hormone levels but I guess I should, makes sense to.

If you're only concerned about hormones then fasting isn't necessary. Just don't be alarmed if blood glucose is a bit high.

Blood glucose and LDL are the only things I can think of that fasting affects. I never have fasted for serum testosterone level blood draws, there's no reason to.

I personally don't fast unless I go first thing in morning. They will want you to be fasted if testing cholesterol though.

I only get fasted blood work when its required for specific tests and I want accurate #s

if you panel test cholesterol and other values it makes sense to fast, I mean you are paying for those tests, might as well get your moneys worth right. besides if those levels come back crazy you will be on here posting questions asking what does it mean and freaking out right

Can some one link me to the test I need. I keep hearing the test is 60 bucks or so. But every female test I see is over 100 dollars ??

fasted BG, trigs, cholesterol.. and I believe c-reactive protein will be affected, if im not mistaken. CBC and hormone panels should not be affected I believe.

Cortisol also will be affected by a fast.

I have a serum testosterone level test tomorrow. Privatemdlabs.com said fasting wasn't necessary for that particular test.
