I have a 6 year old cat. And we have a room with her litter box in it. But every once in awhile she will go into the room and shit on the floor right next to the litter box. She usually only does about once a month. But she has done it the past 2 days and its starting to piss me off. I don't like starting my day by picking up my cats shit.

Anyone have any ideas of why she does this?

A water spray bottle is the best tool for disciplining a cat IMO. When you find the shit, pick you cat up and set the cat down right in front of the poo...then spray the cat with the water. She'll get the picture.

BTW, are you keeping the box clean? cats won't use dirty litter boxes....sometimes if you switch the litter brand, they don't like and will go next to the box

And sometimes cats just do things for the hell of it. No questions asked.

That's why: Dogs > Cats

Any big changes in the household? Cats are picky that way. New pet, new resident, etc. Crapping where they know they aren't supposed to is their way of letting you know their mad.

Also what Invanry said about the litter box.

Cats pretty much do what they want. If there's nothing physically wrong with it than good luck!

We have 2 and they are both mental.

My brother-in-law got bit by his cat the other week. Its a house cat but sometimes slips out the door when people come in. After he was bit his hand swelled up to the size of a baseball. Suppossably cats can have bacteria stored in their teeth.

My sister just moved out of the house. But my cat shit on the floor before she moved out too.

Cats are easy to litter box train, but are finicky. Cat sized dogs are harder to litter box train but much less finicky.

We have 3 dogs less than 20lbs that use the litter box when we are at work. When we are home they go outside. We just didn't replace cats with cats. As we lost a cat we replaced them with a superior animals/companion. Food for thought for you.

Are dogs liberals and cats conservatives?
Are birds independent?

Yes!!!!! : )... on the dogs and cats, not sure about birds. I do know that squirrels don't care either way. Squirrels like peanuts but I think you can discount as food preference.

Haha....my cat weighs 16lbs. :)

I've never been much of an animal person, but ive always preferred cats.

That is, since i got my dog - ive now changed my mind completely.

Havent seen him for a week or two since moving back to university and i miss him, godammit.

Apparently he keeps going into my room and sitting there looking around, and when my girlfriend went to the house to get some of my stuff, he jumped up on her before running past her and looking around frantically, barking.

When he noticed i wasnt there aswell he wouldnt look at her the whole time she was there :P.

The dog must have smelled your DNA on her....is a dog or a goat we speak of? :hmmm:

change the litter. The only reason they are doing this is because they can not get in their box to shit. The old litter may actually be bothering them...try switching up litters bro. We use the shit from COSTCO and have had no issues...
