My spouse???s cousin was always overweight; she was 5??? 2?????? and weighed 575 pounds.
At the age of 32 she decided to have her stomach stapled and it worked, she went down to 210 pounds in 8 months. Unfortunately when they did the surgery they left behind a staple causing an infection. The infection spread throughout her body causing all of her major organs to shut down. She lost the weight but she paid it with her life.
There are tragedy's and risks with everything in life Mino. I had a similar procedure and mine worked far beyond my expectations! My heart goes out to her and her family.
the stapling thing has too many problems...i hear too many people who get infections...I had one lady who's procedure left a small hole betwen the staples and sometimes food would slide in there and ferment for weeks causing all kinds of problems.
The gastric bypass and band procedures seem to be more effective and safer...these procedures are only to be used for grossly overweight people who's health is so compromised that the risk of surgery is less than the risk of staying overweight...not for the person who has 30 pounds to drop and is just too damn lazy to eat right and exercise!...I hope we dont see doctors doing these procedures for the wrong reasons just to make a little extra $$$$....but I'm sure we will.
