In other words,
does it make any difference with the intensity of how you can train if your "built up" or if you've just "released" your army of kids?

Obviously, you'll probably be able to train more intensely if you're built up, but is there any scientific info about this?

It does not effect t-levels.

Cool, thanks dg.

I just thought that maybe it would since you feel kinda weak in the knees and sleepy afterwards.

I guess its a myth from Rocky when mick says " women make your knees weak Rock, you gotta eat thunder and crrrrrap lightning".

The advice is not to have sex before heavy squat day, and of course some people marry bodybuilding before women

tjwes, stupid or not IYO, it does not warrant such an attitude. If you dont' like it don't post!

Hey not saying we can't debate, just have a little respect for your fellow IM member!

Even if said subject is jerkin it, I think thats better than a monster sex drive that gets him into trouble, thats JMO.

i think it may affect t levels
its been awhile since i read any biology literature on this but, a structure of the nervous system (?hypothalamus?) is responsible for controlling test production. It does this by inhibiting test production, things that make it inhibit test production is: concentration of sperm and test.

Ejaculating does in fact INCREASE test levels somewhat. However, I would not have sex/masturbate and train right after, as you also release several chemicals (Oxytocin, endorphins) that will relax you too much to train with the highest intensity.

i heard that cum contain protein...and if it does. than you are bascily shotting out some proteins..

serious question: do you have any scientific data to support this? or is it just anecdotal?

cause everything I have found says there is no correlation between sex, ejaculation, etc. and testosterone levels, other than having higher T levels obviously increases sex drive.

People who have sex more often live "healthier, happier and longer lives." Of course sometimes correlations can be misleading, blah blah blah.

I jacked it tonight and i have to squat tommorow at 6 PM. Do you think my test levels will be back to normal by then?

Do I have anything...not on me...but I have read some studies on the subject. But of course, like all things, I'm sure there are studies that show the opposite or no change at all. My belief personally is that it probably has a transient positive effect on test levels, but nothing that would affect muscle growth.

RC, it could be an old wives tail, or completely unrelated to T level. I really dunno, its just something thats been around "forever."

Well if it is than thats another reason to not marry, I had a great leg workout today :)

Personally,
if i'm "built up" for more than a few days, i feel real energized. maybe its just all psychological.

If I'm built up for more than 3 days or so I swear it effects my personality. I'm more aggresive, especially in the weight room, but I'm also meaner to people. Maybe it's all in my head but it seems pretty consistent.

There was an article in Ironman written by their sex columnist Laura Moore about how orgasming affects bodybuilders.

She says that after orgasm a hormone called oxytocin is released which helps with looking more vascular (she said some Europeon bodybuilders injected themselves with pitocin, a synthetic form of oxytocin, before contests), also starts a thermogenic process to burn fat, and that it also stimulates the production of test, GH, and IGF-1.

This was in the May 2003 issue and no references were cited in the article.

that is the problem, is there any scientific support for any of this?
