the veggies are a challenge. i'm so bad about them. i'll have to learn. are artichokes ok? maybe not....

if they are i better figure out how to cook those suckers. steam them i think? (told you i'm no cook!)

is it ok to steam brocolli? i don't like it raw too much.

i like cucumbers and green peppers. not much else. i'll add some green and red leaf lettuces. what else....

what's easiest to fix and store and cheapest to stock up on?

i'm so lame. veggies are like a new language. my poor mother - she really did try. figures now i'm going to start eating them and she won't get to see it! (3,000 miles away)

one last thing - once you adjust to the diet are you really cranky still? i did one contest back when i was in college and i scared myself i was so evil when i carb depleted! (but i wasn't upping the fats then)

Steaming is OK, Chokes are OK.

Quote of the day, "Life is kicking my butt, but I finally think I'm getting past the hair in the artichoke." (customer, two days ago)

No corn, no cooked carrots or starchy veggies.

After the adjustment, you will feel gr8, mentally and physically, you little fat burner you! :D (12%, here you cum)

(remember your active carbs, don't cut out too much, too soon)

I have struggled with veggies too and this is what I have found. You need to find a favortie mix of veggeis for you. For me it's been broccoli, onions, red and green peppers. I by them fresh and cut them up. Doing this saves a bunch of $. I mix them all in a big bowl and divide it up into cheep serving size disposable plastic containers. Makes like a dozen of these. I store them in the freezer. When I want to eat one I just through one in the microwave for 3 min and they steam themselves with their own juices. I know they are ready when the lid blows off. I hope this is of some help.:)

brianinabq...that's a pretty damn good tip! I do the same thing butt just keep it in the fridge...I go through veggies too fast to freeze 'em.

Hopefully I will get through them that fast now. I am upping my veggies and fats starting today to help kick up the fat burning.

hey dp - i'm starting monday. planned to go with the twice weekly carb up so no oatmeal, sweet potato etc. til then. veggies and the 4 frozen strawberries in my protein shake will be it. figured when it's time to tweak i can go the other way w/daily active carbs. is that a good way to start or to extreme?

NG, it will work, 3-5 weeks with 75 grams a day of active carbs, and then tweaking to a zigzag low carb (under 50-60) with a carb-up for the next 3-5 weeks or vice versa! As longs as we change it up!

just to be sure i'm not headed off the wrong way...when you say 75 grams of active carbs for 3-5 weeks with the twice weekly carb up. that would mean just veggies for carbs other then the carb up days. yes?

if you could find a minute - could you maybe peek at my post called "reworked diet" and see if i look more or less on target for a starting point.

thanks so much. i'm gonna nail this. i'm tired of being "close" to where i want to be. i'm going there now.

Either 75 a day active, not veggies, but slow burners in early meals;

or lower as in your post with w8 and the twice weekly carb-ups!

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse the issue. :D

Find something else to do...

When I eat junk I don't like (mostly veggies and some fish), I find something to occupy my mind, like a book or TV. Sometimes I finish eating and realize I hardly tasted a thing!

Steamed artichokes are good. Grilled artichokes don't suck. Come to think of it, I never met an artichoke I didn't like.:D

Mmm I love artichokes too, but I must dip them in clarified butter. I MUST!!!

Veggies I love including the 'bad' ones LOL.

potatoes
yams
carrots
brocoli
cauliflower
corn
green beans and yellow beans, LOVE YELLOW ONES!
tomatoes
all sorts of leafy greens
bean sprouts and alfalfa sprouts ( are they veggies)
celery
tomatoes
kinda like cucumbers
onions (all kinds)
rutabagas
turnips
fresh beets (not canned ugh)
cabbage (including purple)
There's more...LOL I just love food in general:)
