drinking water during work out

Wrestling

I have the same problem, I get dizzy/light-headed when I drink water during workouts. I wrestle, does that relate to anything (deprivation of food or water) with cutting weight all the time?

How about this, what do you eat *before* you workout ? Do you? Or are you lifting on an empty stomach and then just dumping water in? How soon do you eat before your workout if you do eat... Answer these questions and I'll see if I can figure something out =P

Got Carbs?

I think that could be the reason, eating like an hr b4 working out, as my metabolism is too fast. I will try go experiment with that and see if it helps. So before the workout I should take in lots of carbs? thanks

Not immediatly before your workout, an hour before like you said.. Are you drinking whey protein in a shake before your workout? Let me quote emma here, this information might help you...

"Pre-workout you do not just want whey in isolation - you always want carbohydrates pre-workout, especially if you workout early in the morning. These carbs will act to spare muscle amino acids from being used as fuel for your workouts. The whey will also cause a large insulin spike on it's own... Which means you will get a draining of energy from the blood - which means your workouts will also be sub-par and you will feel crappy.

If you are having it less than 40 min before a workout you want something that is relatively rapidly absorbed - which is why liquids/shakes are better (which is why I have yoghurt). If you can though, you are better off with real food (eg: oats + egg whites) about 1-1.5 hrs prior to your exercise.

If your workouts are going to be long and intense you would also benefit from some fruits (the fructose will help to maintain your blood glucose during longer exercise bouts) and some fats as well (as, after 90 mins of intense exercise, most individuals will have used up their glycogen stores and the fats will help fuel the remainder of their workouts)."

Dont know how to cross quote through forums, but thats information from Emma, and she knows her stuff... Go check out the Diet side.

I would think that when you drink water blood rushes to your stomach causing the temporary dizziness you're talking about, you'd also want to take into acct that you probably have a lot of blood in your muscles already muliplying the effect...???

Just a guess

now that i think about it-whenever I get a boner, i get dizzy too.

High Blood Pressure

Well, you have to check your blood pressure.
During workout your blood pressure elevates and by drinking water (especially if you drink it fast) you will increase it even more.
You also might have a blurry vision too. Tremor in your hands is also a good sign of hypertension ( high blood pressure).

Drink it room temperature and take sips don't chug down large amounts of water... if this doesn't work then I'm with juggernaut!
