I remember when I used to run to the store and buy cigarettes for my dad. He also used to let me and my friends take off by ourselves on the country roads in the beater Chevette with no registration, it even had to be hot wired back when I was 14-15.

those of us that grew up in rural areas started driving early but 9 is ridiculous on major roads in the US. most of my friends in my grade in HS were a good 1.5-2 years older than me so they used to make me drive when I wasn't licensed when we used to drink so everyone had a fare share at getting busted by LE.
