How often should/can this be done?....I got tired of my same shoulder routine and did drop sets for rear laterals and side.......I've done this the past 3 workouts.....is it for just for a jolt? I feel like I need to do this every time now......Gonna do it for chest next......its nice really draining the muscle out even w/ 5 lb dumbells.......(on final drop set)..... but not sure if I keep doing this if I'm doing more harm then good......thanks

all depends on how many times per week you do it and what AAS if any your on. once a week for 8-12 weeks will be fine but remember the body adapts to all stimuli so you gotta change it up.

Doing drop sets once a week seems to work fine for me.

this is what i do:
1- i choose only one or two exercises per muscle group and do it only one drop set, and it is the last set of a given exercise. for example if i am doing chest: flat bench, inclined bench, cross cable, dumbbell flyes then i do my last set of inclined bench as drop set and my last flyes set as drop set.
2- i do the drop sets every other workout or every two workouts for a given muscle group

They can be quite taxing so it depends on recovery. I did them for every movement for awhile then quickly got to the point of not recovering between training sessions no matter how much I ate or slept. Even my sleep suffered so resting wasn't easy.

Good advice!

Meh I don't like it when people say things like "once a week for 8 -12 weeks" were did you pull that magic number from? See with sets and reps to many people read a routine and follow it exactly as it says.

for example you might read sumwere somebody routine to do 3 sets of 10-12 reps for say 4 different exercises. People will go in and do exactly that thinking oh that's wht my routine says so I will not do any more then it says, in my opinion there is no magic number in this game no magic number of sets or reps you just lift with good form untill it hurts and when it hurts that's when your workout begins!

no pain no gain and all that..

So in answer to the the OP I think just throw them in when you feel like it some days I feel like adding droplets others not, some days il plan on a light(ish) session and find out I feel stronger then usuall on that day and change my pre planned training to how my body feels in the case mentioned abouve stronger so I will go heavier for less reps its all about listning to your body.

like a lot of people will know some of the best workouts are on some of your crappiest days.

I add drop sets after every lift I've completed my 3 heavy sets with.
