Dumbbells or Barbells?

Dumbbells, and I'm not talking about TSB either :D

Hahaha, I agree, I use a combo of both but feel that for things like chest work the DB are best.

I use dumbbells for the majority of my training.

i agree w/TSB, because on upper body movements DB help you get a much better range of motion, esp. chest, midback, delts and bic.

i have heard alot of people say that DB's are better but personally i prefer to use a barbell when i work out out my chest. I find that i can lift heavier doing bench press that chest presses. Bench pressing is the part of training that i really enjoy.

I would have to say DB's even though I would hate to have to only use DB's. They both have there place

I prefer dumbells. I seem to isolate the muscle better then a barbelle.....

I like to mix up the use of both... always keep the muscles guessing:thumb:

I think DB's are generally better for the upper body, and barbells for the lower body.

Ditto :)

I use both as I see fit. There are some days all I use are dumbbells, other days I use both.

I find that when using dumbells a lot of smaller stability muscles are used which may never be strengthened if you only used barbells. I also find that I tend to do most of my upper body stuff with DBs and most of my lower body with BBs (although I do like DB stiff legged deadlifts). I think the best compromise would be to alernate using DBs one week and BBs the next because they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

Dumbells or Barbells

I like to mix it up, performing heavier movements and sets with the bar and then lighter to moderate weight sets with dumbells. Dumbells allow for strict concentration on the movement, muscle group being trained. I.e. On chest day I will start with Bench press, flat or incline depending on the day, and then move to a dumbell chest press and then a fly routine, also using dumbells mixed up with cables and sometimes even a machine such as Cybex or Hammer. Regardless of what you use, always give it your all to ensure a MONSTER WORKOUT!!!
