I arch my back and keep my shoulder blades on the bench while dumbell benching but have trouble driving with my legs, do these techniques apply to dumbell bench in the same way it applies to barbell bench? Also, I perform dumbell skullcrushers and was wondering about the angle you should extend your arms to? Thanks in advance.

Guess this topic's too boring

it is harder to get in position with the DB's to get that hip drive since you have to fight to get the DBs into place and that alone will leave you a little "off". With the BB it is set up already and you can do what you need to do to get a good set up before unracking the weight and begining you set.

i pick up the dbs in my hands then arch my back and slowly fall to the bench ready to bench!

I still try to apply the same techinques, but I just do the best I can. Like P-funk said, it is harder to position while you are fighting to keep the dumbbells steady.

It might be a bit hard, but you need to start with weight you can handel. I dont go past 85's or 90's because the technique gets sloppy after that much weight. And as for the leg drive.. yes its very important... try putting ur legs onotp of the bench while benching with a Barbell or DB'S. it works for me. It takes time to get the motion and movement down. Try these steps.

Step one- Grab the DB's and stand infront of the bench.
Step Two- Place the DB's infront of your Quads and sit down.
Step Three- Relax and breath, then keep them close to your chest and slowly lean back and keep your wrist straight andmove your elbows away from your body.
Step Four- Start the rep, remeber good form is the key.
