Does anyone do dumbbell kick backs? are they an effective exercise or just a secondary exersice. I am trying to find new exersises as I am experiencing a lot of pain in my right elbow when doing skull crushers.

Thanks for any input

Are you doing skull crushers with a tricep bar, curl bar, or straight bar..?

Kickbacks are not used for "mass building" so to speak but they are a good exercises. They will put some stress on your elbows and shoulders though.

Also you could try DB skull crushers. They give you some more natural movement so they don't bother your elbow as much. Try that.

I love doing kick backs. It's one of those exercises that really hits the tricep well for me. Skull crushers don't do it for me.

By the way, that sure is a good looking gal on that webpage!

i like 'em...but only at the end of my triceps routine. i prefer to go really light on these and squeeze like crazy at the top.

it could also be that your elbows are in a poor position when youre doing the skull crushers. make sure your elbows are tucked way in, my friend kept having elbow problems until i yelled at him enough to tuck them in, then he was fine.

also, i dunno, but i dont get much from kickbacks, i think the weight swings too much, i prefer different excercises to these.

I agree with you need to go lighter and squeeze at the top. They are not my fav. exercise but I like the burn I get from them. I am in the same boat as nikegurl I guess.

Dimebag, yes they will swing alot, this is why I say work into the weight on this lift. Start light and keep the form very tight, little by little add the weight or else you will just be flaling your arm around looking for injury.
