Many times during the week (Mon - Fri) I like to workout before going to the office. But there are often too many times when the alarm goes off at 5:30 am, I have negative thoughts telling me I gotta get up and stay up. Sometimes I lay around and when finally hitting the weights, I don't get a great workout because I started too late, and sometimes I don't get up at all. So the past couple of weeks I started experimenting with a different routine. I've been setting my alarm for 3:30 am, and although I am reluctant to climb out of bed at times, I know that after my workout, I can crash for a couple of hours before going to work. At 3:30 I get up and slam a whey shake and get the weight room prepared for whatever workout I'm doing that day. At 4:00 I'm blasting the weights and usually done about 5:00 or 5:15. Slam another whey shake when I'm done and hit the couch until 7:00. Get up and shower, shave, brush teeth, etc... and a 15 minute drive to work. This has been working great so far!

This sounds so good. I never worked out that time.
Don´t you make a lot of noise and wake up everybody?
Do you sleep for how long? 8 hours?

if that works for you great. personally I couldn't fall asleep after my WO. I get pretty psyched up thou

Yeah, I make a lot of noise, but I live in a house and have no worries about disturbing anybody! I find it easier to get up earlier and workout knowing I can crash for a couple of hours afterwards, than getting up early, workingout and going straight to work. Plus, the whey protein is working on my muscles while I sleep, which is when the muscles are recouping!

Not quite true, only when the sleeping time is a little bit longer you get the benefits from it.

Yeah, I understand that,... and your right,Vieope! But in the early morning, a couple hours sleep is better than no sleep. I definately feel great afterwards!

Your right, Vieope,... a good nights sleep is when the muscle recoups and grows. But when you get a couple hours sleep after an early morning workout, that particular body part feels pumped all day long. The next day is when you actually see the results..!

i know your muscles NEED sleep to grow period. But isnt the jury still out as to whether or not sleeping actually heals your muscles faster if you crash _right after_ a workout?

wll I wouldn't want to be asleep during the most anabolic time of the day, which is right after your WO. you will be missing out on that time frame which is no good
