I've whinned about my inability to gain weight with a workout routine and a physically intense job while trying to employing adequate nutritional requirements.

Always in the back of mind was the idea, "eat as a cat does" - small, frequent portions between regular feedings.

I bought a pocketed work smock (blue-collar worker, I am) and placed "goodies" like jerky, high calorie dried fruits, nuts, etc. into a homemade glad bag liner to fit the main pocket. It's open and I can easily slip my hand into it.

Every 20 or 30 minutes... I grab a bit of "working fuel" and chew while I'm busy. The great thing is - the practice, in moderation, doesn't decrease my appetite at all. I've gained a couple pounds in two weeks and my lifts are increasing again!

I've finally found a way to establish equalibrium?

Any thoughts? Ideas for "goodies" I can slip into my "feed bag"? LOL

Great idea Jimsnow. Almonds are a great souce of really healthy fat, protein and arginine. Brazil nuts are another great food very high in selenium and healthy fat. Prunes are a great souce of carbs and are great for keeping the bowels moving regularly with all the nuts and protein which can bind a guy up. Looks like you are on the right track on your own. :D

Well, you just noted my fav nuts - in a nutshell! I like dates... prunes are similar, I think. But, I'll throw them in for variety!

Other ideas? I think jerky and nuts, including soynuts, are probably the best (and compact) protein sources for my feedbag. I'm not certain about the best dried fruits... and other "compact" vegetable potentials.

I also use oatmeal and protein bars, cereals also.

BTW - My x-wife, many years ago, held up a brazilian nut to her african-american friend and asked, "what do you call these?" She, as a matter-of-factly, replied "Nigger Toes."

Maybe, you had to be there. LOL

i think i read somewhere that eating a big meal is almost waistfull to your body as only around 60% of its nutritional value is actually digested...

sounded funny to me but it would explain why alot of people recomend 6 moderatly sized meals a day instead of 3 hefty ones

clean snacks all day i guess would be "the next step" in fueling your body regularly with the proper nutrition

A question for nutritionists:

How would eating 12 snack-type meals differ from eating 6 larger meals from a
nutritional and/or gastrointestonal point of view - for the strength athelete?

I am not a nutritionist, and there are probably people who could answer this question better than I.

But, I think that at the end of the day, as long as you got in your calories, proper macros, and EFAs, you are going to be okay.

Wow, this is working!

Just got a new, clean BP record last night. 355.

Hell, I'll just start bulking. LOL

Good job Jimbo.
