Hello Friends,
I had my body fat checked and it came out to be 15% which they said was very healthy and I decent abs. However, a friend lately told me that neglecting my posture(I am software developer who lie crouched in my chair most of the day) and not doing lower back exercises could push my tummy out giving it a protruded appearance. She suggested that I walk with my tummy tucked in and shoulders broad and also do lower back exercises.
I was in general wondering that does neglecting some parts of your body have some undesired side effects on other areas other than the neglected section. For eg. I never do neck or forearm exercises and I have some friends who never do legs.

building your body must be done from down up like a building:)
you cannot skip legs they are the foundation , then you cannot skip the core (back and abs) , neglecting any of these parts can cause bad posture to compensate for weaknesses and can transfer the stress when lifting to those weak parts especially weak joints.
you don't have to have monstrous lower part , but you cannot neglect them. With good legs and lower back your form in other exercises will be much better, you will be stronger and you will avoid injury

Just as bjg says- you gotta do it all. I neglected my lower back for year. Now in trying to get my hams up I have caused myself alot of lower back pain. Take it from me- do it all man- don't neglect ANYTHING.
